We had the good fortune of connecting with Takeya Goodrum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Takeya, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Only you know how far you can push yourself.Yes, I have had many times when I’ve wanted to give up. But I always remember how far I’ve come and know that my faith overrides all the negative thoughts. My drive and supporters are a big part of why I continue to keep going. When I have children I want them to know they can conquer anything possible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started my business it was all about social media! I used what I had to my advantage although it wasn’t much I made it work. I started my catering business in my first apartment of 2017 even offered delivery services. I knew I could cook but I really wanted to have homemade cuisine. I experienced a lot of trial and error along the way but I never gave up. Nothing new from the ground up is going to be easy so you have to trust in yourself of all aspects and know why you became an entrepreneur in the first place.
I want the world to know I’m a “Queen of All Trades” ! I do everything from cooking to nails or customizing shoes. Yes, I’m going to be that multiple business owner!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m more so a homebody but I love to have a good time. I would first start the day off w/ one of my delicious brunch spreads. Then we would get our nails done, go for a nice girls spa-day out. I love being spontaneous so going axe-throwing or going to a wax museum or even glass making would be FUN for me. I have so many restaurants and food trucks I would like to visit in Atlanta! You’ve gotta be on top of booking things ahead of time here lol but I loveee the food here!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my significant other for continuously supporting me and also a close friend named Shay! They both keep me motivated that I can always do a little more! I want to also thank my parents  for helping me along the way in any way possible and most importantly my supporters/clients.
