We had the good fortune of connecting with Taijuan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taijuan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be in position to employ people in a way where they dont feel like they are working for me but instead investing into themselves. I wanted to bridge the gap in my family between generational wealth and just being someone who has a good 9 to 5 job working for someone else. I wanted to build a umbrella that covered all the grounds of creating a foundation and building upward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well first thing first no i was not born in Taiwan but yes that is my real name lol. So as a black artist with the name Taijuan (from birth) has always gave me unwanted attention. That turned into me always resembling someone famous. Then eventually that opened up my personality as an artist as a creator. Being left hand i started of as an illustrator. From there i became a writer i loved to write stories and scripts and especially poems. Once i got into langston hughes and tupac shakur, merging the two seemed inevitable. Life has never been deemed easy for someone like myself. The challenges of not knowing the business vs knowing who you are as an independent artist can be conflicting and or could compromise you as a person. So I’ve accepted challenges that i didnt know where ahead of me as i was getting started earlier on in my career. One thing I’ve learned is that I am the product not my music, so what insay what i do what i display as an artist has almost if not more impact than the actual music i put out. My image isnt just how I dress or how many tattoos I have. These things were learning curves i had to adjust to. I want the world to know we are young independent talented black men who will never compromise our integrity for a dollar. We tap in with the people on every level cause we can relate to reality and the actual people not to the majority of rappers you see on social media.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So as an upcoming artist we normally find ourselves around other creators, so I’d definitely start off with a wake and bake session then off to the down town art district, theres alot to explore to become even more creative and inspired, maybe enjoy the scenery of LA live as well especially at night when its lit up. A lakers game would be preferred. I love sea food so maybe we can go out towards the marina, enjoy the breeze or maybe grab a bite down at Tonys On The Pier. With all the theme parks from 6 flags to Knotts Berry Farm to Universal Studios cant go wrong with any of these outings. Last but not least I normally end my night off with a dope studio session before i call it a night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I would like to get a special shoutout to my parents for putting me in position to be successful with love and motivation. I can’t forget my team my guys my brothers Y.B.S. Ent which includes not only myself but: RDP (also actor), King Nurzah (our main producer), Tristan Masters, and Drea (my partner in crime). One of our main engineers Mil, our film and camera crew conducted by Sean. Also shoutout a few other producers we’ve been working with Young Seph, OSYM, 4petesakebeats, and big bro Ayo Sk. I would like to also give a special shoutout to OG Cuicide and JuJu for being my mentors in this game. None of this would be possible with God.
