We had the good fortune of connecting with Tai Barksdale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tai, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Working hard and being myself have been my biggest advantages when it comes to me succeeding in whatever I choose to do. If something needs to be done, I will find a way for it to get done on time and make sure that it is done to the best of my ability. As for being myself, I am always myself no matter what is happening around me and I believe people can sense that and react positively toward it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently a third year law student at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School and I work at an entertainment law firm. I got to where I am today professionally by being myself and putting in hard work when work is given to me. I aim to make myself valuable so that when people see me doing my work and doing it well, along with my positive attitude and energy, they want to continue working with me. I would not say that it has been 100% easy. I put in a ton of studying, long nights and sleepless days to get to where I am in my law school career. When I do not feel like doing something, I just think about my end goal and tell myself “this is what is going to get me there, so do it.” I believe when something needs to be done, you can make it happen if you really want it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Even though I am from Atlanta, I still find new places to try all the time. If there were any games going on I would definitely suggest the Mercedes Benz Stadium for football or soccer. I would suggest Skyline Park or Painted Pin for something with little games to play. I like a lot of latin music so Loca Luna is a fun place to go with music, food, drinks, and hookah. Eclipse Di Luna has really good tapas. I recently went to Yebo Beach Haus and literally all of the food was amazing; I also love the aesthetic of the restaurant. Lastly, as a typical Atlanta person, there are many lounges/restaurants with hookah and music to try.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents get the shoutout because they always answer all of my questions, even when I repeat them, and they always give me advice on literally everything, especially when it comes to my future and success.
