We had the good fortune of connecting with Tabatha Ferrer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tabatha, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My balance is similar to a roller coaster. Over the past year, I have juggled many jobs, where were all great but consumed a alot of my energy. If I am booked with gigs outside of my full time job, my schedule can get hectic and be very overwhelming. I use to say “yes” to participate in all projects and events that I’ve been invited to, which has led to burn out. Now I am saying “no” to give myself a break. I find myself giving myself more grace and acknowledging my feelings. I am learning to take a pause and process what is occurring around me. I love to use post-its and create to-do list along with my planner, which helps to keep my day structured. I do make time to have a social life and spend time with friends and family. Having a social life and alone time is extremely important to self- care. It helps me to re-ground and reset for the next day or week. I am learning that “Team no sleep” is not the best motto. In order to show up fully in life we must rest and pour into ourselves first.

What should our readers know about your business?
The mission of my business is to curate mental health and wellness space for youth in the community. The space is to help youth to become more aware of their own wellness and learn skills to manage their emotions. Given the opportunities to participate and network in other community events in addition to my experience of working with youth for 10+ years, I was able to create my own support and community. Currently, the most proud moment for me has been creating and completing a 5 weekend free Summer Wellness Series for youth in the community. Each week, I had about 2-3 organizations attend to facilitate workshops with about 15-20 youth participate. The road of my business has not been easy as I am still learning the ins and outs of business, exploring different ideas for services and building systems and strategies that are beneficial to me

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am giving a shout out to my family and friends. They continually hype me up about everything I do, they give me that push of confidence when I am feeling unsure, they give me a listening ear when it is needed the most. They never tell me what I want is far fetched. The question always is, what is the plan to get there?
