We had the good fortune of connecting with T. Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi T., what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
In my business I have learned to be patient. When I first started out in 2016 I had the idea that I would get a website, post on social media and that the sales would flow. Boy was I completely wrong. I had so much to learn because I realized there was so much I didn’t know and this would cause me to slow down and have patients. There is no right here, right now way of thinking when starting or even running a business. It like having a baby and raising him or her. You nurture your baby, teach that baby how to walk, talk and behave which all takes lots of patients. As your business grows there will be new experiences which of course patients plays a major roll. It takes time, dedication, enhancing your knowledge on business tools and most of all patients when is business.
What should our readers know about your business?
Like a lot of businesses, I started the same way with having children with hypersensitive skin along with eczema, and making products for them. I was happy working my 9-5 and being a business owner was never on my mind. But once I started taking classes, and learning more about skincare I was awakened with a love for something I didn’t know existed. I enrolled in major courses to perfect my then recipes into profession formulations that provided the results that not only my children needed but so many more. But now its more than creating amazing products, I am on a mission to help educate consumers as well as other handmade skin or haircare individuals. The ability to create formulas that people love and be able to share my knowledge and skills with others is what makes JAK’s Essentials different from the rest. We just don’t want to sell you products we want to also educate you on the important aspects of skin and haircare.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
JAK’s deserves all the credit. I named my company after the three joys in my life, Jalen, Ashod, & Kay’Leigh. They have taught me and still teach me that I am capable of making the impossible, possible.
