We had the good fortune of connecting with SyncereOnBeatz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SyncereOnBeatz, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Yonkers, New York. I am a PK ( a preacher’s kid for those that don’t know) and the youngest of my siblings (the favorite..lol). My parents sheltered me from street violence as well as emerging hip hop culture and explicit television programming. From as young as I can remember, my parents’ took in homeless people off of the street and took care of neighborhood children as well as multiple foster children. My home was always full of people! We were in church alll day Sunday and almost everyday of the week. My father kept us in a lot of activities to keep us off of the street. Seeing my brother and other people on my block going in and out of prison, made the street life really attractive and normal. When I started going down the wrong path trying to be like my brother, my father wasn’t having it and moved us to the middle of nowhere Alabama. We found out quickly that you can get into more trouble in the middle of nowhere…because you have to find something to do! Because of my strict upbringing, gospel music became a huge part of my life and identity and because hip hop was forbidden in my parents’ home, I didn’t start getting into rap until around 1998 while I was living in the South. During this time a friend introduced me to T-Bone, a Christian rapper, because he knew how my parents felt about rap music. This inspired me to become a “Christian rapper.” Looking back on all of these experiences I realize that music was always apart of my life. The music I put out is a reflection of me. What you hear is really who I am.

What should our readers know about your business?
Music Diary Group is currently an Inspirational Entertainment Platform. When we use the term “Inspirational”, we are referring to all forms of entertainment that promotes positive messages about topics such as love, relationships, life journeys, and encouragement. These messages may be relayed in the form of multiple genres of music (hip hop, R&B/soul, gospel, dance hall, etc..). Not only do we consider inspirational entertainment as promoting positive messages, but also entertainment that is free of vulgar language (including cursing and explicit sexual references) so that they can be enjoyed by everyone! Because our focus is on promoting inspirational entertainment and not specific types of artists, artists that are showcased on our platform are not always gospel artists, but may range in genres and talents. We have also developed an inspirational clothing line called ORDAINGEROUS (Ordained By God, Dangerous To The devil).

It has not been a smooth road. What wasn’t a struggle! This has been six years in the making. The main struggle was determining what my platform would be and how to organize it. Other struggles included financing my vision, finding web developers that won’t rip me off (I’ve been ripped off by so-called web developers at least 5x), and getting artists to trust my platform. Some of these struggles have gotten easier and some remain a challenge. There are days when I feel like I want to give up, but I don’t because I’m a fighter and I want to see my vision through.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First off we have to go to the shooting range or the gym. No questions asked! As far as food goes, It’s either Dominican, Jamaican or Italian food. I might even have them come by our studio and guest host a podcast episode or have them try to spit some bars lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shout to my mentor Derrick Godbold who was a family friend and musician that kept me in line when I was younger. I also I want to shout Keahi Evans for letting me borrow the T-Bone cassette tape that I never gave back. LOL.
