We had the good fortune of connecting with Symphony Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Symphony, how do you think about risk?
I think of risk as doors – it’s scary because you don’t know what’s on the other side but still exciting because you have the opportunity to enter into a new room of life. Let me break down my formal…. it takes courage to turn the doorknob, perseverance to push the door open, and faith to walk through the doorway. Now once you’re in, you might as well ride the waves because going back makes no sense right? Right! I mean if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t take a risk…actually let’s make that plural, risks. The first risk I can remember on this journey was quitting my job, where I was doing very well, picking up my things, and moving to Georgia. I was comfortable, surrounded by great friends, and did I mention I only lived ten minutes from the beach? I mean life was good… from the outside that is. But internally I wasn’t fulfilled so I had to do what I felt was best and I am happy to say that I have turned back since.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Whew! Well, if I could describe my art, I would say that it is beautifully abstract. This journey hasn’t been perfect nor easy but definitely worth the experience! Like most people, I went into college thinking I was going to be A and left college pursuing B. To give specifics, I went to college to be a physical therapist but didn’t leave pursuing it. Physical therapy seemed right up my alley…I ran track, loved helping people, and wanted to make good money. But in all honesty, I was living the worldly motto…You know the motto, “ go to school, get a good job, make good money” yatta, yatta, yatta. Well it wasn’t until my senior year that I had enough courage to admit this isn’t what I wanted to do, this wasn’t my passion but it was a tad bit too late. Although I had to settle while in school, I refused to settle in life. I had no idea what avenue I was going to take after I graduated but I had faith that what was for me, was for me. And that has probably been my biggest lesson in life, what’s for you is for you. There’s no need to compare or to step on anyone to reach your goals, that will only get in your way of true fulfillment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d prefer not to publish all of the places I visit on the regularly; however, we would do every adventurous option the city has to offer 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I went into names, I’d be here all day lol. So, in summary, I have to thank God, my family and friends, and every organization that has given me an opportunity to represent their brand in some way! I am truly blessed and grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing people! All glory to God for that!,
