We had the good fortune of connecting with Symone Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Symone, how do you think about risk?
Everything comes with its own risks. To me, risk are “the worst that can happen” in a situation. I give it all I got to keep the “worse” from happening. Sometimes I surprise myself on my ability to find success in a situation that had a lot stacked against it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Entrepreneurship is NOT for the weak! It takes planning, hard work, dedication, the ability to problem solve and the willingness to adapt. I run my tax business, natural hair business & online boutique concurrently. To some it might sound like I’m all over the place but I balance everything well. My heart and determination is what set me apart. I fear nothing but God. I give 110% to anything I’m involved in.

I grew up in an unconventional household that gave me the heart of a lion. My momma is to blame for that lol. She raised my sisters and I to be fearless, no matter the odds and she always told me how smart I was and that I could master anything if I put my mind to it; and no matter the obstacles, I did just that.

I stepped up for my mom whenever she needed me to. I’m her oldest child and after my sisters & I dad was killed we was all we had so it was a must I made sure we stuck together. (My heart always been in the right place)

I’ve overcome a lot. I’m a Thyroid Cancer Warrior, SA Survivor & Teen Mom who knocked down every brick stacked against me. No matter my background I’ve raised some pretty amazing kids. My oldest is in her last year of college, my middle daughter is about to enter her sophomore year of college and my oldest son is working on his business and establishing himself in the music world.

My daughter Ayona is thirteen, she’s a miracle and living testament. Doctors told me she wouldn’t make it through the night but God had other plans. That’s why I became an advocate. I’ stood up to doctors who try to misdiagnosed her and all the odds placed against her. She’s my motivation behind the organization I’m building to create a safe haven for kids & adults like her.

I’m just trying to make a difference with the knowledge and talents God blessed me with.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has some of everything! For brunch: The Breakfast Club, Breakfast at Barney’s and BQE are my top choices. To vibe out : iPic, Punch Bowl Social, Trapcity Cafe and The Battery are my go to. Nightlife, I’ll have to go with: Visions Lounge, Atlantis Lounge, Aura and Elleven45

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My tribe! My mom, all my siblings especially Mercedes & Jukarris Anderson. My kids Porsha, Emanuel, Kenyatta, Reginald, Ayona & Omari. My guy, My besties Robyn, Princess, Roslyn & Shemika. My Granny, My Aunt Dana and all the people that love me out loud and speak highly of me behind my back. Every last one of them keep me encouraged and motivated to push my limits to new heights.
