Meet Symone Chase | Resin Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Symone Chase and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Symone, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Resin By Anais was born out of a perceived need and a little bit of accident. For some reason, when I started changing the color scheme in my house, I couldn’t find any coaster sets that went well with it. For my first project, I used a small resin kit to craft some coasters. I started getting requests for custom coasters and decided to start a business out of it. Coasters transformed into trays, journals, and bookmarks. As for the business name, I chose to incorporate my middle name and the product I use.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m currently juggling a number of responsibilities, including a full-time job and a part-time graduate program. Despite the fact that my day job and academic pursuits are both rewarding, resin art serves as an enjoyable creative outlet for me. Time management is the biggest challenge, in my opinion. Quality cannot be rushed, as I have come to realize through my professional and academic endeavors as well as my entrepreneurial pursuits.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You’re in for a treat. A week in Richmond, especially during the summer is wonderful. I immediately gravitate toward wanting to show off food spots that I love, to include lunch at Sumo San (my favorite sushi restaurant), Casa Del Barco on the river, or Tipsy Crab. However, my favorite time of day is brunch, to include locations such as Sidewalk Cafe, the Jefferson Hotel, and LuLu’s. Each place has a different feel, and they are all welcoming. I would conclude with taking a walk to Brown’s Island to enjoy the art and scenery, visiting the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, or enjoying the rooftop view at Kabana.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am now if it was not for the amazing support group that I have. I am fortunate to have a solid group of women in my life that I consider to be more than my friends, they are my sisters. I also have a supportive family and attentive significant other. Without all of them, I would not have the inspiration that drives me.
