We had the good fortune of connecting with Symone Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.
What should our readers know about your business?
Living in a city like Atlanta, there are a lot of guys that are doing suits very well. When starting Tailored Mone, I knew I didn’t want to just sell suits, not because I didn’t think they wouldn’t sell but because that’s not something you’re going to see me in every day. The hard part was figuring out what I could sell that was different from everyone else. One late night it literally clicked for me, I decided to really push knitwear and soft tailored goods. These are things that you’ll see me in often, and it just made sense the more I thought about it. Now, I do still offer custom suiting but the focus is the above stated. This hasn’t been easy, my biggest lesson has probably been getting out of my own way. I’ve wanted to throw in the towel, imposter syndrome is real, but for whatever reason I keep pushing. When people see me, my brand, when they feel these garments for the first time. I want them to experience opulence. I want them to understand that it’s ok to keep things simple, and not over complicate things especially when it comes to dressing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day one we’d start at Chattahoochee Food Works, a pretty cool food hall, plenty of options even for the pickiest of eaters. As the week progresses definitely grabbing drinks at Jojos, Bar Margot or James Room maybe even all three pending lol. Definitely would have to grab some pizza from Lloyds and pending the week possible hit the High museum for First Fridays. My loft would definitely be the main hangout spot, to me nothing beats hanging out with your friends. Listening to music, laughing share stories, just enjoying the quality time. We all get busy with life, so it’s always a beautiful moment to take time out and just enjoy your people.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My fiancée she’s been my biggest supporter since day one. From listening to me ramble on about fabrics, sample pieces, and even offering her own ideas. I can’t thank her enough . My guy Mike Andrews (Stylearchitexts). He’s been a guiding light for me. Offering support, advice, and he’s just a wealth of knowledge. Luis Toache, he’s always been willing to look over my garments, and has just been a mentor really. So many other people that have helped me along the way from being test models , buying products, reposting on social media etc.
