We had the good fortune of connecting with Sylvester Silver III and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sylvester, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that taking risk separates you from your peers, its one if not the most important aspects when it comes to being a creative. there will come a time where you need to make a decision that may benefit you in the long run even though the odds seem stacked against you. Ive been able to become a full time videographer/photographer due to taking risk

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Visual artist with a focus on Film and photography, what sets me apart from other artist out here would be how I edit and shoot my videos but to be more specific my shots selected when shooting short films and/or music videos. I tend to go for extreme wide shots whenever I can, along with the extreme wide shot i try to look for symmetry in every shot when needed. I got the inspiration from watching Wes Anderson films. My personal videos have a different aesthetic than videos I do for clients. My personal style has more of a darker and nostalgic look to it. i like to use 35mm film photos and super 8 style videos to really draw in that look, I also have a lot inspiration from [Adult Swim] with my ongoing project [AWWS] which will be coming out soon. I would say that I am still perfecting what my style is and have a long way to go before I can really establish what my look will really be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d tell them to go to Little 5 points to really see the diversity and creativity that flows through Atlanta. There are tons of other places that would be nice to check out such as no signal, full circle, and good times if your in to street wear and high fashion

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my journey so far I’ve met a lot of talented people and worked with some amazing organizations, but out of all of that I would love to shout out my friends but to be more specifically I would like to shout out my friend Elorm also known as @Elormkobla on instagram. In Throughout highschool he was one of my main motivations when it came to perusing my film and photography journey. Without our friendship we would’ve never learned about using new lenses, using different editing techniques, or even shooting at new locations and the settings needed to shoot in those conditions. In a sense our friendship was a rivalry that pushed us into becoming who we are today.
