We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydnie K West and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydnie K, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most crucial factor behind West-McCoy’s success is undoubtedly our extraordinary community, fondly referred to as the “Real McCoy’s.” These individuals, our cherished customers, are the heart and soul of our brand. Their unwavering support and enthusiasm have been instrumental in creating a vibrant, confident, and transparent community.

At West-McCoy, we believe in more than just providing perfect denim; we strive to empower and celebrate the unique confidence and curves of each member of our community. Our success is intricately tied to the relationships we’ve built with our customers. Their trust and loyalty have fostered an environment where authenticity and individuality are not only embraced but celebrated.

In essence, the Real McCoy’s have transformed West-McCoy from a denim brand into a movement that stands for confidence, inclusivity, and self-expression. Their passion fuels our commitment to delivering high-quality products and fostering a sense of belonging within our community.

What should our readers know about your business?
West-McCoy is not just a denim brand; it’s a movement that stands for confidence, authenticity, and inclusivity. What sets us apart is our commitment to providing perfect-fitting denim for plus-size individuals, addressing a gap in the market that often left people feeling frustrated and overlooked. Our journey began with a personal struggle, witnessing the tears and frustration of plus-size women unable to find the right-fitting jeans in stores. Our CEO, driven by a love for denim and a determination to redefine the narrative, founded West-McCoy to empower curvaceous individuals to feel confident without being confined by societal norms.

One of the proudest moments for West-McCoy is receiving heartfelt messages from our customers. The emails, DMs, and comments on social media about how great our denim styles are and how wearing West-McCoy’s perfect denim boosts their confidence are truly inspiring. A customer even shared that her West-McCoy jeans were the best-fitting and cutest she had ever worn, earning compliments from her husband who rarely comments on specific garments. These moments fuel our passion and reinforce our mission to redefine beauty standards.

The journey has been far from easy. We faced challenges like the departure of our former Co-Founder, financial constraints, inconsistent sales, and the absence of a roadmap to build West-McCoy into the first billion-dollar plus-size denim brand. However, these challenges have only strengthened our resolve. Our former Co-Founder, McCoy, continues to cheer us on, and we’ve learned to turn obstacles into opportunities for growth.

West-McCoy is more than a fashion brand; it’s a community. We want the world to know that we are here to stay, representing a movement of curvaceous individuals living authentically and unapologetically. Our vision is to build a billion-dollar brand with a strong community foundation, proving that plus-size is not a limitation but a celebration of individuality and confidence.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I would like to dedicate this shoutout to someone who has played a pivotal role in my journey – Jance Charte (@jancecharte). Jance has been nothing short of a fairy E-Commerce Mother, guiding me through the ebbs and flows of entrepreneurship with unparalleled expertise and support.
