We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydni Allyse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process of my business started like this. Growing up I’ve always loved to travel but it wasn’t until I was in my sophomore year at Clark Atlanta that I discovered my love for travel. That year I had the opportunity to study abroad in China for the summer. This would be my first international trip, but certainly not my last. went on my first international trip. As I prepared for China I didn’t know where to begin or what to pack; I didn’t even have a passport. I was excited, nervous and scared all at the same time because I was going all the way around the world and if we can be honest I clearly didn’t know the language.
China opened my eyes to a world of new opportunities. Different cultures and customs have always intrigued me, and China fueled my passion to travel the world. I was blessed to have been able to live abroad for a summer and look forward to being able to bring the same love of travel to others through custom travel experiences.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m committed to providing personalized, truthful, and accessible service. Growing up in a small town it’s easy to get stuck and not know anything else. I want my customers to know that there is a world full of opportunities. There are more places to travel to than just Miami and Los Angeles and guess what?! IT’S AFFORDABLE! Traveling shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. With my services I want people to be able to travel the world and explore new things. Traveling opens your eyes to new cultures, foods, and traditions. I want to break the stigma that traveling out of the country is only for wealthy people.
What I’m most proud of is being an inspiration and a help to others not just professionally but those less fortunate within the community. Let’s Bag Hunger is a service project I created in an effort to give back to the community. I and volunteers provided bagged lunches consisting of sandwiches, drinks, etc. This year our service project “So Fresh & So Clean” will provide toiletry items.
Starting My First Class Experience wasn’t easy, I ran into some opposition from people with whom I had relations. I found that odd and then realized, I was witnessing the crab in a barrel mentality. I feel like we shouldn’t crawl over and compete with one another. I believe in inspiring everyone to achieve their goals.
Understanding that everyone’s opportunity is everyone’s opportunity, which is why I encourage people to follow their dreams, even if similar to mine. I don’t hate anyone, and I embrace people to always do what’s in their best interest. If you want to start a business, go to school, or write a play, just go for it.
Along the way, I’ve learned that not everyone will like you, and not everyone will believe in you. But if YOU believe in you, and YOU like you then that’s all that matters. Being confident in yourself will take you far!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you were spending a week in Atlanta these would be some of my tourist places for you to visit:
First things first, we have to go to the historic Martin Luther King Jr.’s House on Auburn Ave. You can’t leave Atlanta without coming here!
Then we could visit the World of Coca-Cola Museum and the GA Aquarium. These are some of the top attractions here.
For breakfast, I recommend either Breakfast Boys or Milk and Honey on Main Street.
I love ice cream so I definitely have a few places we can go, Jeni’s Ice Cream and Cereal and Cream currently have me in a chokehold.
Ponce City Market has a rooftop area called Skyline Park. They have drinks, food, rides, and games.
Rooftop bars: Virtue, Suite Food Lounge, and Tom, Dick, and Hanks
Restaurants: C & S Seafood, Little Alley Steakhouse, and Dantanna’s
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to thank God because without him there wouldn’t be a Sydni Allyse. Throughout my life, I have faced some hardships with depression and anxiety but with God, I have been able to get through them.
I would like to dedicate my shout-out to L’nita Cooper, owner of Stars N Skyes Travel. She has been a mentor to me from the beginning; with weekly training, being available whenever I need her, and always being encouraging and sharing new ideas. I appreciate the fact that she’s genuine and truly wants to see me win. Just a few weeks ago she invited me to a travel agent retreat in Jamacia. She didn’t have to do that! With our time together I’ve learned so much about being a travel advisor and wish to continue to grow my relationship and business with her.
