We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney St. Fleur and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is maintaining discipline regardless of the curveballs life may throw. I promise to each and every client to show up for them and best represent them and their brands. Through this dedication, I’ve not only learned a lesson, but I’ve also embraced and begun to master a vital skill and value. It’s not just about delivering results; it’s about embodying integrity, consistency, and reliability in every aspect of my work. This commitment not only elevates my business but also enriches the relationships I build, fostering trust and lasting partnerships.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run a full-service digital marketing company called Social Bijou, and what sets me apart from others is my ability to convey a story cinematically. While I have the education to contribute to this skill, it’s also a natural talent that I’ve honed since I was 7 years old. Growing up with social media has been a significant advantage. I witnessed the birth of platforms like Instagram, Musically (now TikTok), and YouTube, allowing me to understand their algorithms and leverage them to my clients’ advantage.
Additionally, what distinguishes me is the fact that I work alone. I am very particular about the content being filmed and edited, and each aspect of execution follows a special process that I cannot trust to be delegated at this time. While I hope to find individuals with a similar eye in the future to help my business grow, I currently enjoy working hands-on with all my clients and take pride in calling my work my own.
Building this business was not easy; it took persistence and networking to gain traction. I learned that persistence is key, and continuous networking is essential. Looking ahead, I aspire to become a film director, and I want others to recognize that this journey is just the beginning. It’s unconventional, as one might typically start as a production assistant on set, but for me, it means helping various business owners showcase their crafts.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Luckily for me, my closest friend lives in the area! We like to dine at Gypsy Kitchen and walk around Buckhead Village afterwards. They have great food, drinks, and people! We also enjoy shopping at Perimeter mall. I’d say if we were taking a week long staycation, we’d visit the Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola Factory, Little Five Points, Ponce City Market, Buckhead Village, and the Beltline.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents, who have supported me throughout my journey as a business owner and assisted me in obtaining everything I needed to succeed since I was just 16 years old. Without them, I wouldn’t have progressed as far and as quickly as I have.
I also want to express my gratitude to my friends, who have consistently shown their support by expressing pride in my achievements, purchasing the e-books I write, and utilizing the services I offer.
Additionally, I am thankful to my clients who have referred me to people they know, providing me with more opportunities to grow and thrive.
