We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Kohl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, what principle do you value most?
KEEP LEARNING. If someone would have told me four years ago that I would have my own yoga business, I would have actually laughed out loud. Not only because I had no idea what starting a business entailed, but uhm hello, I’d never even done yoga. I didn’t even really know the direction I wanted to start in. I kept myself open to anything, I experienced new things and kept learning about myself. Keeping an open mind and a desire to learn has taken me down a path I never would have gone down if I would have kept myself closed off.
What should our readers know about your business?
My passion for yoga developed as part of my path into physical and emotional health. I found a deep connection to yoga that started me on an incredible spiritual and energetic healing path. The connection I felt to my true, authentic self is the driving factor behind starting my business. I have never felt more myself than when I am practicing and learning about yoga. It hasn’t always been easy. I think what has truly been the most difficult part about starting and growing my own business is getting out of my own way. Allowing myself to go for what I truly desire, which is bringing to others the same love and opportunity to find themselves that I have experienced. An important lesson I have learned has been to know my worth and never sell myself short.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tough Love Yoga, Ugly Betty’s restaurant, Ponce City Market and explore the Belt Line of course!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a few people I would like to acknowledge actually. My Mom, Amber King, Michael & Dille Dee and Stephanie Epps of Indigo Soul Yoga. This group of people saw and believed in me before I was able to do that for myself.
