Meet Susana House | Reiki Master and Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Susana House and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susana, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
This is a very good question. In order to more fully understand where you stand in your own life is by observing and understanding what habits you have formed overtime and how have they helped your growth overall. Do your habits help you grow as an individual or have they kept you in your comfort zone. Just recently I had to sit down and I made myself write down all habits that I had formed, whether they were good, bad or simply neutral. I didn’t judge myself I simply observed. Only then I realized that maybe waking up and directly getting on my phone wasn’t helping me, or watching too much reality tv wasn’t healthy for my train of thought. Habits that have helped me achieve success have started little by little and over time. Waking up and checking off one goal for the week and being proud of accomplishing that goal, not being on social media more than I need to, confusing more on my peace and wellbeing, being okay with being by myself, meditating, doing self love practices. Little things that you might think are harmless actually do affect your way of thinking more. So instead of getting on social media as soon as i wake up i sit in bed and say out loud everything I’m thankful for and proceed with a morning regimen that will start my day off great. Instead of watching that tv show in the evening I listen to a good ebook to finish off my night more productively. You are a walking brand so good habits start with a good state of mind. Little changes here and there. The changes don’t have to be huge because let’s face it when has that ever worked out. Let’s say you recognize that you have formed habits that have kept you stagnant the good thing is you recognized it and let’s say you change those habits for a day or two eventually you’ll revert back to your comfort zone because you have bitten off more than you could chew. So now I’m more patient with myself and continue to observe what habits I develop and question whether they will help me achieve a goal or not.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I see everything that I do as an art. From what clothes I wear that describe my personality to how I carry myself as a creative and inventive individual. I’m thoughtful, kind hearted and nonjudgmental which has helped me create more empathy for others. In return I have developed a clear mind and peaceful heart which then allows me to guide those who feel stagnant in their own life. Not telling people what to do but becoming an example. Getting to this point in my life was not easy, I went through adversity which then I thought was the worst thing in the world and fought against it only for it to keep slapping me in the face. My success started when I decided to work with what I had and make the best of It. I embraced the worst in my life and it made me stronger. I want to be an example for those who think they have no more fight in them, “Yes, you do!” You have all the strength in the world all you have to do is give in to the flow of life, observe and learn from the experiences you are going through because more than likely you are missing a clue that’s staring at you in the face. I use to get down on myself for not looking as perfect as the models in magazines did and it only got me down and in a really bad mood so then I started judging myself. All that led me to a depression that I couldn’t get myself out of. It took me to have to look in the mirror everyday and tell myself that I was worth it, that I was worth all my blessings even though I felt like I was lying to myself I still did it. Eventually I started believing it and started smiling again. Then I cut out comparing myself to other woman because I wasn’t them and they weren’t me. I understood that I brought something to the table as much as they did. And I slowly started noticing my beauty which led me to create my brand ‘The Star Oracle’. My base, a foundation based on individuality, a creative space. My spiritual inner peace where I invite others to be themselves and dream their biggest dream without any judgment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is easy! I love simplicity so the first thing would be to do anything outdoors. Stone Mountain hikes, walks down the park, nature trails, swimming in Lake Lanier. There’s nothing more that can help you find inner peace than being out in nature. After a good walk we can hit a Pottery Class to express ourselves more using our hands. Another fun place way of expressing ourselves would be to enjoy a wine and paint shop where we can create snd sip a good glass of red wine or white, which ever your preference is. For the evening a fun indoor outdoor place for dinner we can go to is ‘The Ivy’ in Buckhead where they have the best burgers and enjoy good music. They also have late night dancing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my husband. My husband has been my inspiration, when all odds were against him he continued to push through adversity and succeed. Now he owns his own network and is a political consultant to many important people in leadership positions. My parents have also supported me even though growing up they could barely afford to put food on the table. Now I am also part of a group of women who mentor me and help me understand life through a spiritual way of thinking. Being part of this group has allowed me to achieve inner peace resulting in the success of my Reiki business. A book that has absolutely been a huge help in my success is called ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. Knowing where I have formed habits that don’t serve me and has helped to unlearn them and pick up habits that have helped me become successful.
