We had the good fortune of connecting with Surbhi Saxena and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Surbhi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that much of life’s greatest achievements are attained by going outside of your comfort zone. Whether it means overcoming shyness to perform onstage, investing money to help your business grow, or simply just putting yourself out there—some of life’s most rewarding experiences come from doing something risky.

It’s important to take risks, cause you have a 50/50 of succeeding or failing. You won’t always win when you try something new. After all, failure is an important part of growth. It helps build persistence.

I strongly encourage individuals to take every risk and drop every fear because we only regret the chances we don’t take. If it doesn’t work out the first time, just try again! It’s all a learning process!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ever since I was a kid, I enjoyed drawing and painting a lot. As an aspiring model, when I create different concepts for photo shoots, I feel like an artist creating a bigger picture. I enjoy working with creative and likeminded individuals who help me bring my vision to light. Being a short and skinny woman who doesn’t fit tedious modeling standards, i’ve learnt to become confident behind camera, and it’s really helped me encourage the collective to practice self love. My hope is to encourage the modeling industry to be more diverse and open minded when it’s comes to portraying a beauty standard, and to recognize that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Atlanta! It’s honestly one of my favorite states to visit, because there’s so much you could do there. I would probably start off by taking my friend to the ATL Botanical Garden, followed by a stop at Slutty Vegan, and maybe ending at theme park, like Six Flags.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m extremely thankful to be surrounded by loving friends and family in my day to day life. Without their love and support, I highly doubt I would be the woman I am today. Also, shoutout to the universe! I am blessed to be protected and guided by the all the higher powers above. My faith is a constant reminder for me to stay grounded and focused.
