We had the good fortune of connecting with Stuart Hasson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stuart, what do you want your legacy to be?
My legacy will live on, hanging on the walls of my clients’ homes. I don’t care if they remember me, but it’s tremendously important that they hold their family close, in their memories, with beautiful portraits to help them remember.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As with most artists, my approach to creating art has changed over the years. It used to be about creating technically great portraits. Now, it’s much more about learning about my clients and giving them something that uniquely represents them or their family. Artwork that tells their ‘story’. It’s so much more personal now, without getting weird.
The best portraits that I’ve made, the ones that moms love the most, are the ones when the family is relaxed and being themselves. Whether in the studio or out on location, when my clients are relaxed and having a bit of fun, that’s when the magic happens. I’ve gotten pretty good at helping people (little kids are the best!) relax and have fun at my sessions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I want to keep my best friends, I wouldn’t let them stay for a week! :))))

Seriously, there are so many great places to eat in Marietta; Bad Daddy Burger Bar, Canton Cooks, Cherokee Cattle Co. for an awesome experience! Kumo Hibachi Sushi… and on and on. I’m adventurous when it comes to food, so I’m usually the last to vote. I can eat anything!

The Great Outdoors has always been a passion for me. Hiking, biking, swimming, golfing and fishing are at the top of the list. Put any of those together with friends, and you’ve got the recipe for a great time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad is my hero. He had very high standards but was fair about everything. When I told him that I wanted to be a photographer, as my profession, he was hesitant, to say the least. After a bit, he said ‘Okay, but you’ve got to get a degree that supports that decision.’ So that’s the path that greatly helped my career. And he supported my decision from there on out. That taught me to trust my instincts and to trust people.
