Meet STK SIDD | Visual Artist (Photographer, Videographer & Creative Director)

We had the good fortune of connecting with STK SIDD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi STK, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was born a creative and I would like to think that this lifestyle/career chose me. As cliche as it sounds, who wouldn’t want to make money doing what they love? Whether it was music, photography or videography, I have been dabbling in the creative realm since I was about 10 years old. As I got older, my love for the arts grew and I realized how important it was to be able to not only express myself but to help others do the same. There is a level of confidence that you see rise within clients when you show them that you got the perfect shot. Or when playing back a music video you watch your clients face light up because you captured their vision perfectly. It really does make it all worth it in the end. I get to capture some of the most precious moments that people will hold on to for the rest of their lives.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being an entrepreneur is not and will never be easy, but it definitely pays off in the end. There have been times when I’ve cried, given up and just wanted to shut the whole thing down. Had I done that I wouldn’t be where I am today. Within my first year of shooting professionally I have now met VedoTheSinger, been on stage with Kevin Gates & DDG AND shot as the brand photographer for REVOLT TV. It’s been a long time coming and I cannot wait to see how far I go.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to try different things. I love Korean BBQ. My favorite spot so far is E-gyu its delicious. As far as hangout spots, I like to go to the gun range, hookah lounges and maybe to see a movie at IPIC. I’m honestly down for anything. I just like to have fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to take the time to shoutout @_ithinkitstime aka Tim Lowe one of the dopest videographers in the city. He is truly a business man with talent out of this world. He has taught me things and shown so much support since my first day meeting him. I definitely want to shoutout the people closest to me as well, friends and family who encourage daily and let me know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
