We had the good fortune of connecting with Stevie DAndrea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stevie, how does your business help the community?
My company, Jewels For Hope, was started by actually giving back. This is a family run business, just myself and my mom, and we came about by my mother giving away jewelry she was making to the Hospice nurses who would come to help my grandmother. From there- Jewels For Hope was born. We decided rather than giving away free jewelry, we should sell our creations and donate a portion of the profits to Hospice. Now- 10+ years later, we donate 10% of the profits of every single item we sell to one of 4 charities close to our hearts. We rotate a new one out every year because there are just too many organizations we want to support – we’re trying to change the world, one piece of jewelry at a time!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I never in a million years would have thought I would be running my own business at this time in my life. I actually went to school for Advertising & Marketing Communications – thinking I would be working at a marketing firm for the rest of my life. I am thrilled that my life has twisted and turned into what it is. Jewels For Hope is my passion and to be able to do this full time now has been a dream come true.

My mother started this company and taught me the art of jewelry design. I LOVE to create funky handwoven designs that are so different and definite statement pieces. We have been donating a portion of our sales from the very beginning — and that is something we are super proud of. We may not make a ton of money sometimes- and others have tried telling us “you shouldn’t donate until you’re making more money. Save it and invest it back in your business then you can donate”…. for us, that is just not an option. Yes, we could at times, have used the extra money- but it isn’t about that. We are meant to give back and help others through our charity creations. Even if it’s a $1.00- every single dollar counts. We’re extremely proud of the fact that every year we are able to give back more than the year before. We are always growing and that definitely gets us doing the happy dance!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Sandy deserves SO much credit. She really started this company and I couldn’t imagine working with someone else. I know, I know, working with my mother sounds crazy- but it works! We are the perfect pair. She not only taught me how to actually create jewelry, she has the most out of the box ideas for our company and it always seems to work. I couldn’t imagine Jewels For Hope without her.
