We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Moye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, how do you think about risk?
Living life is a risk because there are very few things guaranteed any so many facets of life are unpredictable. I believe if one never takes a risk one will never know the outcome and I have been willing most of the time to see what’s on the other side of the risk which has either been a lesson or a blessing.

The risk I have taken entails leaving a secure job in the medical field as a Nurse and stepping into entrepreneurship owning and operating my salon Moye’ Hair Etc! and S. Moye’ Fashion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most excited when using my creative talent. My specialty is BLINGWEAR which is phrases and artwork designed from Bling onto fashion.

I worked many years as a Nurse and felt stifled because Fashion is in my DNA since six years of age I was sewing doll clothes then at twelve created designs for myself, then in high school my teacher asked me to assist the class with sewing construction, and I received requests for brides gowns and prom gowns. Later on in life I had an epiphany while on a shopping trip in New York and decided to pursue my calling by becoming a Fashion Designer.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design while operating my salon Moye’ Hair Etc which wasn’t easy due to scheduling clients according to each semester but when you want something that’s life changing, quitting is not an option.

One important thing I’ve learned is life is unpredictable so its very important to do what makes you happy creating unique fashion is what makes me happy. Inspiring women while helping them to feel confident sexy and beautiful wearing S.Moye’ Fashion is my goal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places to dine is Ocean Treasures which is a seafood restaurant with New Orleans flavor rather you like it spicy or mild cajun flavored menu.

Highland Park is one of my favorite places to walk around the reservoir trail or/and a picnic.

I also enjoy the scenic view on the Gateway Clipper where you can take a trip on the river in speed boats or Tiki boat with a Hawaiin vibe, There’s also the large boats you can have dinner with a gorgeous view.

Shopping at Robinson Township is not far from the Airport and ending at Bahama Breeze where they serve Carribean food and with Calypso music and a live steel band.

The incline is a famous site where you can see an overview of the city of Pittsburgh on a trolley descending from the hilltop and returning to the top where you can also take photos of this scenic view

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God, my parents, and my childhood friend Karen Evins
