Meet Stephanie Moore | Licensed Massage Therapist and Body Contouring Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel risk taking plays an important role in both my life and my career. Why? Because it stretches and exercises my faith. I was an Aerospace Mechanic when Massage Therapy landed in my lap. I knew nothing about it. I never had a massage before in my life and did not know anyone that had ever received one. Tragedy stuck and God sent a messenger in the form of massage therapy student, to convinced me to receive a therapeutic massage. After declining her twice, I agreed on the third attempt to allow her to perform a fifty-minute massage on me. Little did she know, I was post pardon and mourning the death of my only child. I took a risk by receiving this personable touch from a stranger. Taking that risk changed my life in a positive way forever!
It changed my life so drastically that I wanted to become a healer just like the young lady who worked on me. So, i took a risk not knowing if I would be any good at massage by enrolling in Massage School. I worked a full-time job as an Aerospace Mechanic while going to school at night for an entire year. It was so hard. Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology are just some of the subjects I had to learn. What if I couldn’t understand or comprehend? What if I don’t have the touch? Those were some of the questions going thru my mind over and over again. However, I kept pushing because I was determined. I wanted to be able to help others feel the way that massage made me feel. Therefore, the risk was worth taking. I prayed about it and let my faith take it from there.
Moving forward, I passed my state exams and almost immediately clients were coming from everywhere. I had a choice now. I took a risk! I was out of the Aerospace Industry and full time in the Massage Therapy Business. A doctor took me under his wings and soon I became an Insurance Provider, worked with City officials and with more health fairs then I can count. I have worked on people from all walks of life and every color of the rainbow. All because of a risk I took in 1998. The risk did not stop in Seattle, Washington, Divorce and lots of death in the family prompted a need for change so I decided to move to Florida. Another risk.
Florida was not so great. I was able to take my talent with me however I worked other odd jobs until I was able to create a clientele. I finally landed in a 300 thousand square foot that I thought would help me to grow as a therapist. However, the spa closed unexpectedly. This time the risk I took was not as successful. The move was not thought out. Although I still had the skill set, the journey was a bit difficult. It was slow and challenging. You will have some situations where you feel you failed. But if you examine things carefully you really didn’t. Why? Because what I learned in Orlando prepared me for what was to come in Atlanta. I left Orlando, Florida headed back to my home in Seattle, Washington where I was familiar with everyone, and I could easily get my clients and patients back. But I got detoured by lots of family and friends not to go back home but to come to Atlanta instead. I weighed my options and took a big risk and here I am.
Since moving to Atlanta, all I could think about is starting up a practice. I am a risk taker and a believer in God. It has not always been easy, But I had a dream to create a company that people would want to come to get help. I was committed to providing a safe environment where I could continue to make a positive effect in people’s life. I took a risk to open The Body Wellness Experience in a time of economic hardship, a health pandemic and in a region where holistic medicine is not as popular as the west coast. Currently, I am a Licensed Massage Therapist with certifications in a number of specialties including Body Contouring, but my plans are to take it a step further to partner with mental health professionals, nutritionist and fitness specialist. So, what do I think about risk? Risk can be the catapult that launces you into your destiny. Just believe in yourself and have the faith.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am first and far most a Licensed Massage Therapist. What I do can be seen in detail on my website at Thebodywellnessexperience.com. I do a variety of massage modalities. They include but are not limited to relaxing, therapeutic, deep tissue, Hot Stone, Lymphatic drainage and prenatal Massage. However, I also do Wood Therapy, Laser Lipolysis, Cavitation, Vacuum Therapy and Skin tightening.
I am very passionate and professional about my craft. I stay current by making sure I am educated on additional or new therapeutic services that can help my clients overall health. I think what sets me apart is I try to educate my clients on what they are getting and consult before I actually perform the service. I I also don’t book my clients so close together, so they don’t feel so rushed. We talk about the best wellness plan for them and execute. I often send homework so clients can get the most benefit of their service.
The Body Wellness Experience is going to grow bigger than me because I have faith that it will. I have big plans for this company and my brand. The bar is set high. Will it be easy? Nothing worth having ever is. People usually see all the lights and glitter, but they don’t see what happens behind the scenes. Working hard will pay off and it is necessary in order for a company to be successful. It will be very important that I use everything that I have learned about, not only in my past businesses, but with my past employers and in my life journey.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is full of music and great place to eat. I would find one of the venues that have some live music going on. We would perhaps take a walk around the botanical gardens, lunch on the roof top one day. Maybe a round of golf and one of the nice greens. Another day we might do trails. I am still pretty new to Atlanta, so I don’t have names much, but I have enjoyed going on the trails, sight-seeing, the outdoor concerts have been the best for me

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout to Dr Richard Haynes at the Seattle Back Clinic, who inspired me to be an awesome Massage Therapist and businesswoman. I owe him a great deal. He is truly my mentor. I want to thank many of my family members and friends, the list is a long one, who listened to me endlessly talk about my dream. I love you and thanks for the inspiration and encouragement to just go for it! Most of all I want to thank every single client that allowed me to work on them with my therapeutic touch. My desire is always to help the body heal and to make them feel rejuvenated and restored. I am passionate about my gift and the positive energy I give is intentional.
