We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie McKenzie, Executive Director Jennifer Floyd, CEO and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie McKenzie, Executive Director, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Rose Bud Transitional Home was established in July 2020 by Stephanie McKenzie (Executive Director) and Jennifer Floyd (CEO). The Rose Bud Home is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving the Gwinnett County area in Lawrenceville Ga. Domestic violence is widespread, deeply ingrained in the community and has serious impacts on women’s health and well-being. The idea to form The Rose Bud Transitional Home was formed due to Stephanie McKenzie being a survivor of domestic violence and Jennifer Floyd being an advocate for domestic violence through personal experiences, community outreach and partnerships.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness for women and children. Battered women have long been among the hidden homeless in the United States. How we relate to the impact of domestic violence sets us apart from others. It has not been easy and we overcome the challenges by taking one step at a time. The lessons that we have learned along the way are the values of resilience and perseverance. It’s important to learn and bounce back from adversity, maintain a positive attitude, and keep moving forward despite setbacks. The Rose Bud Transitional Home would like for the world to know that domestic violence can happen to anyone regardless of their class, religion, ethnic background, education, or age and you can overcome your circumstances.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we had a friend that was visiting the area we would hang out and make the most of our time together.

Each day we would start the day off with a delicious breakfast at Georgia Diner, The Peachtree Diner, etc.

Each day we would have lunch at Red Lobster, Olive Garden, or a picnic lunch in the park
.
Attractions: Each day we would pick an event such as: fundraiser, networking events, museums, cultural centers, and concert in the parks.

We would have dinner at Outback Steakhouse. Rays on the River and The Sun Dial
We would top of the evening at Piedmont Park at a jazz concert.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The organization that The Rose Bud Transitional Home would like to give a Shout Out To is MBKO (My Brother’s Keeper Outreach ATL). MBKO has been instrumental in encouraging and mentoring us through the process of being a non profit and the importance of community outreaches in the community.
