Meet Stardust Sonata | Rock Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stardust Sonata and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stardust, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Success for us is the fact that we get to create music that we love, share it with an ever-expanding audience, and have fun doing it. The key driver of our success is the mutual respect between the four members of our band, who bring their unique perspectives to the creative process. Though we have different philosophies of art and life, we are all driven to create music we are proud of. We want the end product to be the best it can be, so we aren’t afraid to allow our ideas and talent to shine when we collaborate on a project. The end result is something much more interesting than anything we could have come up with individually.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Right now we are most excited about our newest project: a brand new batch of songs, which we’re currently recording at The Afterdark Studio in our hometown of Cartersville. Like the songs on our last album, these new tracks combine elements of both classic and modern guitar-driven rock and roll. However, our new material has a darker, grittier feel in both the substance and style. Since the release of Create The Sun, life has thrown many challenges our way- from career changes to illnesses, injuries, and even new additions to our families. Our new project is a testament to our musical and personal growth during this time. Stardust Sonata is shining brighter and rocking harder than ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We always have a great time on the BeltLine. The Ponce City Market has some great local vendors. The Masquerade and Smith’s Olde Bar are a couple of our favorite places to check out local music, but there are so many great venues around the city. If you enjoy art and history, we highly recommend the High Museum and the Atlanta History Center.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. We are nothing without community, and this Atlanta music community is a great one. There are several people here who have been integral to our journey.
We definitely owe a debt of gratitude to Daniel Karasek, an Atlanta-based music journalist who gave us some of our earliest press and has been a big supporter since we first came on the scene. Since then, he has gone on to produce some shows of his own, and he has thankfully included us on several of those bills. We believe he is planning to do more of these events in the future, and we look forward to being a part of what he is doing for the Atlanta scene.
We are also grateful to Joe Warren (a former booker for the Masquerade), who got us on some of our earliest ATL gigs and helped spread the word to other venues and bookers.
Along with Daniel and Joe, there are many local bands that we have had the pleasure to get to know and share the stage with: Mellowpool, Grudgestep, Rae & The Rag Dolls, All There Is and Bad Guru. These are all killer bands who have become part of our musical family.
