We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I don’t stand at the end of a diving board with my eyes closed and jump into the swimming pool. I first make sure there’s water; then if I look like a fool on the diving board, at least I know I’ll eventually be cradled and the only harm will be to my ego. That type of calculated risk is the risk I took when I left a nice salary, cushy office, and great benefits to sell real estate full time about 6 years ago. Up to that point, I’d spent about 6 years selling real estate part-time while I was also a health care lawyer. Some of my friends and family understood that I could only show houses on the weekends or evenings, but as the real estate market bounced back and clients wanted to see houses faster, I knew I either needed to get out of the game completely and refer these clients to full-time agents, or I needed to become a full-time agent myself. The risk of leaving a great job, standing on the metaphorical diving board with your eyes closed, unsure if there’s water in the pool to cradle you when you jump – is indeed scary. For a small business owner is can be daunting to leave something comfortable behind to follow what you’re passionate about. I’ve never regretted following passion and taking calculated risks.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a Realtor here in Atlanta with Dorsey Alston Realtors! I pride myself on having a very client-centered business, meaning I get to know my clients really well, listen to what their priorities are and then get to work! Most of my business is referral-based and I’m really proud of that. It means I’m doing something right if past clients are referring me to their family, friends and colleagues! The real estate market in Atlanta is so competitive, especially for buyers, that it really takes grit and determination to find the right property sometimes. That’s what I really love – the challenge; the hunt! Once we’ve identified the property, the skill to beat out a multiple offer situation is where my negotiation skills shine. Besides having the litigation background, I have a number of tools in my toolbox that I can lean on when it comes to offer strategy and ensuring that my buyers come out on top. In this market, it’s also really fun helping sellers list their properties and sell for top dollar. I find that sometimes sellers are really surprised by what the comparable sales in their community show their house should be listed for. It’s really astounding how well some pockets of Atlanta are doing right now, so it’s fun to share with sellers how well they stand to do by selling in this market. I tell people all the time – CALL ME IF YOU’RE THINKING OF SELLING! I can help you! Let’s work together and, as a team, we can sell your home or find you the next best place!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Inman Park is my favorite pocket of the city, hands down! The availability of BeltLine + patios + restaurants is so nice. My perfect afternoon would start at Victory Sandwich Bar for some Jack-and-Coke slushes, a Bird ride along the BeltLine and lobster rolls at Beetlecat for dinner, maybe stroll to Ladybird for after-dinner drinks… that would be a great evening! Other favorites around the city during non-Covid times include the Fox Theater, Tabernacle and Chastain Park Amphitheater for great music; any restaurant Ford Fry lays his hands on; boutique shopping in the East Paces Ferry area and my favorite festival of the year, Shaky Knees!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to all the other hard-working Realtors around the City of Atlanta, working tirelessly for their buyers and sellers day-in and day-out. We’re in the trenches together, friends!
