We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey-Ann Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacey-Ann, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always been a risk taker. And I believe that I’m miuch less risk averse than the average attorney. Risk taking is a skill that can actually be learned. The key is to start small if risk taking just doesn’t come naturally to you. Start with little things like trying new foods that you wouldn’t typically eat. Think of small ways to push yourself out of your comfort zone on a regular basis. Once you become comfortable with taking small risks, you will feel more confident in taking a larger risk like moving to a new state to start a new job.

Although I’ve always been more comfortable taking certain risks with my life and career, I still make an effort to push myself out of my comfort zone regularly. Constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone helped me to build resilience, which came in handy when I opened the Law Office of Stacey-Ann Taylor, LLC last year. Being a new business owner is all about resilience!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a business and trademark attorney who loves working with new and first-time business owners. I have both legal and non-legal experience in the business world. I believe my non-legal experience has actually made me a much better attorney. I worked in a non-legal Director-level position for a privately owned company with hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue for several years. I learned a lot about the inner workings of business operations in that position and those lessons often inform my legal counseling today.

The most important lesson I’ve learned in my career journey from employee to business owner is that you have to actively work to develop your leadership skills. You will often have to create leadership opportunities for yourself, but you will often be rewarded for doing so. I’ve found this to be true whether you’re an employee or a business owner.

I love owning by own business and I’m grateful that my previous positions as an employee gave me the experience I need to be confident that I know what I’m talking about!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love seafood and beer. I love The Optimist and Lure for their fantastic seafood menus. I love going to Hippin Hops Brewery (which just opened a few months ago in East Atlanta Village) for craft beer. I like to do fun, interactive things. I would probably take them to Andretti’s, or Top Golf, or The Roof at Ponce City Market to hang out. You can also never go wrong with a visit to The Painted Duck.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my boyfriend, Jory Young. He has been incredibly supportive and has been the best sounding board for me as I worked for almost a year to launch the Law Office of Stacey-Ann Taylor, LLC on July 31, 2020. He has helped me come up with marketing ideas, reviewed pages and pages of website copy, given me customer service tips, and so much more. He has always shown genuine interest in my business and he has been there for all of the joys and pains I’ve experienced as a new business owner.
