We had the good fortune of connecting with SPECS Management, Inc. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SPECS Management, Inc., is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
We think the most vital piece of information most outsiders are unaware of is that nonprofit association management firms actually exist. We meet other professionals and business owners all of the time and they have no idea this type of industry is even a profession. Once we begin to divulge all of the services we provide many are left in awe that we have this level of experience and it’s usually an overwhelming conversation to say the least.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SPECS Management, Inc. is a minority and woman-owned nonprofit association management + corporate event management company. We are certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The SPECS team has decades of experience in the private, government, and nonprofit sectors. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and responsiveness and our clients feel this is one of the main perks they receive when contracting with SPECS. We do not simply give a sales pitch, sign a contract, and assign an administrator to handle a client’s account; we personally ensure the management and execution of a program’s daily needs. Our clients are essentially receiving high level expertise wrapped into our management services instead of simply administrative tasks being fulfilled daily. We personally provide strategic planning, governance, leadership, human resources, marketing and communications, event management, board and volunteer management, amongst a host of other managerial services to our clients. We believe in fostering partnerships with our clients as a way to build trust between parties and to ensure services and agreements are always a win-win for everyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d begin our day with a workout at E.F.F.E.C.T Fitness and then go next door for a smoothie at Spreading the Health Juice Bar. We’d then go to Jeju Sauna for a relaxing massage and pampering. Then we’d take our pick at one of Atlanta’s amazing eateries like SluttyVegan, Busy Bee Cafe, Old Lady Gang, or Harold’s Chicken. We’d then top it off with a treat from Sublime Donuts. Given COVID, we’d lean towards visiting open air places like the Beltline, The Roof at Ponce City Market, Stone Mountain or Kennesaw Mountain for hiking and various waterfalls through-out Georgia.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Would love to recognize and “shoutout” a main supporter of SPECS since day 1 – Jae Scarborough, VP, Enterprise & Channel Sales at Simpli.fi. Jae was very instrumental in helping us establish our branding, target clientele, and essentially every detail of getting our business off the ground. He dedicated MANY hours volunteering to keep us on track with our processes and we owe a great debt of gratitude to him. THANK YOU JAE!
