We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonja Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonja, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I embrace risk. I believe in taking risks for what you desire to do what brings you joy. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and when I did that I saw that I was able to do things that I never would’ve known I could do or achieve. I took a risk opening up my conventional business which is a beauty salon and I took a risk when I got involved with network marketing and multilevel marketing in which I created a huge organization of thousands of women that I helped create income to have a better lifestyle. It was very rewarding. In conclusion, where there is no risk there is no reward!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing about me is that I love being creative. Whether it’s through my beauty salon and creating beautiful hairstyles on my clients and building up their confidence, because when you look good feel good. Listening to their stories and being not only a hairstylist, but a counselor as well. So now they feel good because they look good and they also got their problem solved, all within a visit. I got to where I am today by being resilient, consistent, and hard work in education of my craft. It was important to adapt to the changes that have come along in this industry because it’s always something new to learn. It’s not always easy because the hair industry can be seasonal. Meaning you have your busy months and your slow months, however when you love what you do, you’ll love who you become! I overcame challenges by staying relevant to what was upcoming and new. Changing with the times. Sometimes people fear change, but the one thing that will always consistently change is change! One of the lessons that I’ve learned along the way is that it’s ok to add other gifts and talents to your portfolio, so even though I was very successful in the hair industry I also knew that I had a gift of motivational speaking and so I used it on my platform when I was very active in multi-level marketing. I saw how my words empowered women and how they moved them to action yielding big results. I was instrumental in helping people change their address, the type of car they drove, the school that their child went to, better education, or higher learning. That in itself was rewarding to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things. As a result there was a high level of respect that we gained for one another and the fun that we had in the process, was amazing! I want the world to know that no matter what you have accomplished in life, no matter where you are, you’re still just scratching the surface of where God wants to take you. Be open to new ideas, be open to change, be resilient, be consistent, be faithful to yourself, trust the process and stay in purpose!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give recognition to my mom! She was the most giving and loving, person that I knew. She always encouraged me to give my all to anything that I desired to do. She taught me to have confidence in me. She would always say if you’re going to do something make sure you do it right, or don’t do it at all! She allowed me to explore and express myself through culture. She never put limitations on me to grow, develop, and evolve into the woman I am today!
