We had the good fortune of connecting with Solomon Headen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Solomon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started off just doing what I loved. I fell in love with music as a child, so as I grew older my desire to do it full time grew as well . So one day I decided to make that dream a reality and I began selling beats, demos and arranging songs for artists.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m very proud of where I am today. Currently I’m walking in a new realm of freedom. I’ve always been open and honest in my music but as life began to grow me up, my music matured with it. I wouldn’t necessarily say my road was hard, simply because I love what I do. I will say there are hills and valleys and I’ve recently learned how to make space for both. I’ve just released a new single entitled “OSCAR.” I’m very happy with the response that I’ve gotten so far. I’m planning to roll out a lot more singles in the following months. Needless to say, get prepared to see me everywhere.

I want the world to know that I’m a country boy from North Carolina. I didn’t grow up with much. I’m a church boy, and I’m going to change the world being completely me. I want the world to know that there’s not just one way to make change. Use what you have, right now I’m choosing to use music to change how people approach making art. There are no walls, there are no boundaries. You can be whatever type of creative you want to be. That’s what I want the world to know.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ponce city Market is definitely one of my favorite spots. It has everything, food, clothing stores, they even do open mics sometimes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my mom. She’s been such a consistent voice of honesty and encouragement. The confidence that I walk in now, she’s instilled in me since I was a child and I’m forever grateful.
