Hi Solange, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was driven by a blend of passion, necessity, and vision. My thought process began with identifying a gap in the market for high-quality, customer-focused property management services. I realized that many homeowners and travelers were not receiving the level of care and attention they deserved. This sparked a desire to create a business that prioritized excellent service, transparency, and tailored solutions.

Furthermore, I was motivated by the idea of building something from the ground up, where I could implement my own values and standards. I wanted to offer a more personalized and efficient experience, leveraging technology and innovative practices to streamline operations and enhance customer satisfaction.

Additionally, I noticed that many real estate investors were struggling to make money on their short-term rentals due to the so-called “Airbnb bust.” This volatility in the market inspired me to create FlexPad Rentals, aimed at stabilizing investor earnings by providing consistent and reliable management services that adapt to market changes. Ultimately, the decision to start my own business was about combining my expertise in property management with a genuine desire to improve the industry, create value for clients, and build a brand that stands out for its commitment to excellence and integrity.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
FlexPad Rentals is a unique platform similar to Airbnb that focuses on stabilizing earnings for real estate investors through short-term and mid-term rentals. What sets us apart from others in the industry is our unwavering commitment to maximizing investor earnings and providing exceptional service to both homeowners and guests. In a market that’s seen significant fluctuation, especially with the recent Airbnb bust, many real estate investors have struggled to maintain consistent profits. This challenge was the catalyst for creating FlexPad Rentals, with the goal of stabilizing earnings and ensuring a steady income for our clients.

Our unique approach involves a blend of cutting-edge technology, personalized customer service, and a deep understanding of market trends. We’ve developed an innovative homeowner portal that offers transparency and control over their properties, a feature that has resonated strongly with our clients. Additionally, our comprehensive onboarding process is now fully automated, making it easier and more cost-effective for investors to enroll new homes, with fees starting as low as $75.

Getting to where we are today has not been easy. The journey has been fraught with challenges, from navigating regulatory hurdles to adapting to market shifts and ensuring the highest standards of property management. However, each obstacle has been an opportunity to learn and grow. We’ve built a resilient team that thrives on innovation and customer satisfaction, which has been key to overcoming these challenges.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability and listening to both homeowners and guests. Their feedback has been instrumental in refining our services and staying ahead of market trends. Another crucial lesson is the power of transparency and trust. By maintaining open communication and providing detailed insights into property performance, we’ve built strong, lasting relationships with our clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I would highly recommend Belize as their destination. Specifically, staying in one of our FlexPad homes in Caye Caulker or San Pedro. These islands offer a perfect blend of marine adventures and island relaxation. From snorkeling in the Hol Chan Marine Reserve to exploring the vibrant local culture and cuisine, Belize provides an unforgettable experience. I’d love to give a special shoutout to my son, Augustin Elliott Jacques, affectionately known as Auggie. Watching him grow and learn each day has motivated me to push forward, even in the face of challenges. Auggie’s presence reminds me of the importance of resilience, creativity, and staying true to my values. His smiles and laughter are daily reminders of why I embarked on this journey.
