We had the good fortune of connecting with Solanda Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Solanda, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
I recently read “We Should All Be Millionaires” by Rachel Rodgers’. At the onset of reading this book, I thought that I was going to learn ways to make extra cash, but once I got past the first paragraph, I knew that I was onto something much deeper than that. See, Rachel explains how being a millionaire is not only about what’s in your bank account, it starts with what’s in your mind. So, while reading this book, I was unpacking all those “Broke Ass Decisions” and before finishing the book, I was making “Million Dollar Decisions ” in my professional career and in my personal life. I felt empowered (again) and It made me realize that it is okay to celebrate myself and any of my successes big or small.

What should our readers know about your business?
SMG Projects and Management, LLC specializes in Property Preservation and Construction Project Management. We repair and maintain the interior and exterior of foreclosed properties. We also handle residential construction projects. What sets SMG Projects and Management, LLC apart from others is that I am a Global certified Project Manager with over 16+ years of experience working in the construction project field. I’m most proud of myself for stepping out on faith and starting my own company. This is something that I didn’t believe I was capable of doing. It wasn’t easy, but I realized that nothing that I’ve ever done to date has been, however it all has been worth it. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to, continue to believe in myself and I can accomplish anything. I would want the world to know that my story is a story of faith, hard work, and determination. My brand is based on my core values which are: Integrity, Excellence, Reliability, Satisfaction, and Empowerment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is such a beautiful city with so many great places to see and lots of good food, it’s hard to give a “little itinerary” but here it goes. These are places we would eat… Breakfast at Barneys, Nana’s Chicken -N-Waffles, Southern Porch, Busy Bees, Gumbeaux, Flatlands Bourbon and Bayou, Tacos and Tequilla, Miller’s Ale, Atlanta Fish Market, and Smokey Bones. Drink/Hangout- St James Live, Fin & Feathers, Frost Bistro, The Battery Atlanta, Ponce City Market Rooftop, and Painted Pins. Of course, you can’t come to Atlanta and not visit the MLK Museum, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, World of Coke, and the Historically Black Colleges.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to recognize Rachel Rodgers Author of “We Should All Be Millionaires”
