We had the good fortune of connecting with Sol ChYld and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sol, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite affirmation to repeat to myself is “I AM staying present through my journey”

We often take NOW for granted.
Steadily looking forward to the future or reminiscing the past we forget that the present is what we’re suppose to craft.

As a creative.. We tend to define time by our next release or drop. We don’t live in the moment enough.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Honestly, the beginning stages of become a performing artist wasn’t necessarily a questioning or hard journey for me. I knew I wanted to be a creator or just have an outlet to express myself (in a form of art) and share it to the world.

I would say the hardest part about the joinery now, is releasing myself to the world and expecting others to understand my story or to even be willing to expose myself.. My struggle with depression, escapism or growing up in poverty.
I make sure to be my authentic self and allow my listener to feel like they personally know me in the glimpse of a 2 to 3 minute song.

What’s been helping me currently is just moving.. No second guessing, no self doubt, no setting expectations or limiting myself.
Those who understand and love what I do will gravitate towards it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m new to the Atlanta area so I don’t really know my way around I would probably just keep them around the Atlantic Station area
Since that where IM mostly familiar with.

Monday- We would grab poke, see a movie, go shopping.
Tuesday- Visit as many art museums we can before 5pm. A LOT of museums close at 5pm
Wednesday- Visit the Trap museum
Thursday- Explore Midtown
Friday- A Picnic.. I’m out of ideas now..

I like to be spontaneous so an itinerary would probably go out the window after the first day.
And if my friend is a creator would definitely have to create and get some studio time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to my brother and sister.

My brother Haashim is one person I can always call to play a rough track, I tell him all my scattered ideas.

He’s very honest. If he doesn’t like a track he will flat out tell me that and describe exactly what he doesn’t like.

Sometimes I listen but if I love what I created I still go with my gut feeling.

My little sister Janiyah. Her presence just makes me want to do better.
At times of being a failure or at times of being successful and succeeding set goals.
Either way she still sees me as her older sister that she loves and adores.
