Meet Slimm B | Rap Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Slimm B and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Slimm, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Writing music has been my passion since I was 7 years old. I had a really hard childhood so when the stress would get to be too much for me I would just lock myself in my room and write for hours. I haven’t stopped since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from others is the fact that I’ve take what I do seriously. It’s not always about what’s going to be catchy or what looks good but I really focus on the lyricism and the meanings behind my music. It’s not a game to me at all. I’m super excited about doing more performances in Atlanta and in other cities with my girl Jada’Re. We’re taking over so be on the lookout for us!
I got to where I am by honestly just staying consistent and really pushing myself. It wasn’t an easy journey I have stopped rapping and started over so many times and it’s going to be like that. The key is to never give up and keep going that’s what’ll make you great at whatever it is you’re doing.
Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is to not change yourself to meet societies standards. You’re always gonna have a hater, or someone who doesn’t want to see you win. So you might as well do what you want unapologetically because your happiness is what’s most important. And never let anyone tell you how to BE YOU.
I want the world to know that you will be seeing Slimm B, hearing me on the radio, popping out in your city because I’m putting on for all the underground artist and letting it be known we CAN be heard.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to downtown Atlanta or midtown. I love a good hole-in-the-wall and boat of these areas are full of them. Good eats, spoken word, artists on the street displaying their art and talents. It’s definitely a sight to see.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my Fiancé for being my BIGGEST supporter. He’s always pushing me to write more, be active on socials, get in the studio when as much as I can. He’s my back bone. I don’t know if I’d still be making music without him. And shoutout to my friend Jada’Re! We’ve been friends since high school and her bringing me back to Atlanta to perform with her really helped me get back into my element.
