We had the good fortune of connecting with Skyy Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Skyy, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“If all I do is try, that means I don’t truly believe I can succeed.” I am a person all about action. I always say I do not “try” anything I “do” everything. To me the quote means to trust in yourself and the abilities you possess. Always committing to your effort and end goal. Never allowing your fear or self-doubt to cloud your willingness to succeed. What I like most about the quote is that it reminds me to keep self-belief in difficult times. To approach situations with a mindset to win, and even if I fail, I know I won somewhere. At the end of the day if I do not believe in myself, who will? You know?

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I do not know what sets me apart from the next person. When I create and bring things into fruition that is not something that crosses my mind. I just always try to be me in whatever I do. And maybe that in itself does. Its only one of me so that by itself makes me different from others. I am most proud of bravery, my confidence, my resolve. I really started from a dream, wish and a will. I slowly see all that come to life and grow every day. I think passion is what got me to where I’m at today. I still have so long to go and so many more things I need to do. But my passion for what I do has kept me going through hard times and setbacks. I learned to look at everything as a lesson or redirection to something bigger. Set high expectations but do not be defeated if you do not reach them. Sucess is a journey not a straight shot. Eventually with enough effort you will get to where you are going. Just push through. My dad told me once that sucess is an uphill battle you got to get up every day and shine your armor. So, to anyone reading know that I am still growing, learning and trying to be better as brand. Entrepreneurship is not easy. Owning a brand is not easy. But if I can do it, you can too. I’m just a person with a dream and I think we all are in a way. I just chose to chase mine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I honestly couldn’t give you much on that. I’m not really a person who goes out much. I like museums, exhibits, going to the movies, eating at new places. If I’m going to do anything outside, it has be intuitive. Something out of the box and inspiring. My house is really my sanctuary, I find so much peace and joy in the space I created within those 4 walls. If anything, I think people should give me suggestions.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, of course there are quite a few people I would like to shoutout. Firstly, I would like to shoutout my SkyyLine family. They have supported me since I was just selling hats and followed me on the journey of my brand growing and changing into what it is now and hopefully what it has yet to become. I would like to thank anyone who has shared, liked or spoke of me or my brand in a positive light. I would like to thank Chris and the guys over at ASWM for giving me and other emerging brands opportunities and a platform to grow and network. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents for believing my dream, being my outlet to vent, helping me at pop ups and just encouraging me to be myself above all else. They are really the reason I will always bet on myself.
