We had the good fortune of connecting with Siyani Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Siyani, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Originally I started my brand because I had a knack for making my clothing designs, About two years in I started suffering from depression before I understood what it was. Then 2020 hit, and I started suffering from intense depression and anxiety. It was then I decided to shift the focus of GRVY Wear to advocacy and awareness of Mental Health

GRVY
Grateful Relentless Valiant Youthful
Those are the values we are embodying with our brand.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The landscape of brands that focus on Mental Health is pretty amazing, and we appreciate them for spreading the same message. Although what we bring to the table is it abut more interactive and personable. Every Monday we host an instagram love series titled “Mental Health Monday”. We use it as an opportunity to come up and listen or speak about Mental Health experiences of other, and how they went about dealing with it 9n a daily basis. We also have a linktree in our bio filled with resources for Mental Health. Whether that be insight on depression, aneixty, tips to help deal with them, or discount code for a better help therapist. More then advocate for Mental Health, we want to make an active impact.

We are committed to helping that is our real mission, we are just using the clothes as a medium to reach people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Aww man you got me here, definitely a homebody *insert laughing emoji*. However, when I do go to the city it’s usually Little 5 Points, love that place, and my kind of vibe. I’m not much of a foodie so please don’t have me lying, but the fiance and I will go to niche events like TrapSushi and Controllerise whenever we can. Outside of that, and maybe some of our musical artists having a concert we are inside.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d be remiss if I didn’t bring up my lovely fiance @maluna.li. She has been my rock, support, and business partner for a couple of years now. Not sure if GRVY Wear would be running without her. Also have to give a shoutout to all my family and friends who have helped and supported me on this journey, whether it be by purchasing clothing, doing word-of-mouth marketing, or even being models for our photoshoot. Blessed is an understatement
