We had the good fortune of connecting with Six Thirteen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Six, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
First questions are always the tough ones, (lol) I found myself trying to ask that exact question a few years back with a lot of things mainly my music. You see I had come from a dysfunctional single parent home with not a whole lot, but enough to appreciate even the small things. One thing for sure was no matter how little the difference in opinions my family and I could always come together through the power of music, whether it be singing, dancing, or simply listening it was passion that enflamed my life to pursue a career in not only making music, but also being able to bring people together. Fast forward I’m doing exactly what I feel I was born to do make music, and bring people together, God blesses me with my first born and my passion for music skyrockets because now I have an even greater reason to make history. I get to show my daughter what amazing things music can do. On 01|01|2018 my two-year-old daughter lost her battle to Leukemia and my whole entire world shattered. In pain I looked for music to heal me, it took me a year to realize my flame with music had been put out. I just felt how could I be able to heal people if I’m not healed myself, most importantly I didn’t want to be at my peak musically if she was no longer here. As far as I knew I had given up and left the music world behind, God had other plans for me. After many nights of seeking, praying the thought of her happy and smiling when we get moments to sing together, hospital days when the Nurses would serenade her with their guitar and music, how happy that made her. It was that moment I knew I had to keep going. I just want to thank God for instilling that flame back in me by showing me how truly happy I was able to make someone before she earned her wings.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve become lately an artist of many genres and I love that for me, it’s a challenge I love the to be able to challenge myself everyday by testing my writing, my emotions to a different perspective of music. I can simply be myself and that sets me apart from everyone else, that took me years of perfecting my craft to find myself musically there was a lot of trial an error developing where I wanted my art to go who I wanted to hear. I can tell you this industry can be brutal if you let it, there are people who will come and go just like that and make you question your artistic beliefs. What I’m so proud of is that rough journey made me so humble, that I am able to make music peacefully without the worry of anyone else’s opinions and I’m grateful for that because I’m able to be myself, that there are people in this world who find my music relatable to these situations in life. I want the world to know that there isn’t a time limit to perusing your dream, if you believe in yourself anything is possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I happen to live in the same wonderful city of Paterson, New Jersey, a lot of our childhood we spent performing in local festivals around our city mostly in East Side Park. Every chance we got to hang out Jody and I would be writing music, recording at So Amazin Studios, and doing shows. With life and the daily things, we tackle, those moments happen rarely. If I had a full week with my bro I can assure you, we would be happily creating music and showing it to the world that whole week a guaranteed 5 album week and I am saying this laughing because I know he would agree with me 100 percent.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, Thankyou God for guiding me, and never leaving myside even in my darkest moments, you were there rooting and helping me overcome any obstacle I faced so far in life. I pray you continue to allow me to heal and fill people’s hearts with joy in Jesus mighty name amen. I’d also like to thank my Wife who’s been my person that when I’m at my lowest, has picked me up and made sure I was back to 100, I would not be the man, the father I am without someone as amazing as her. Shy Boogs, Cezbeats for always seeing the true artist within all of us, true masters at their craft and because of their genuine care for wanting to create amazing music is what makes me so grateful to work with them at So-Amazin Studio’s. My best friend/brother Jody who would always write music lyrics in our notebooks instead of doing schoolwork because we always said we was going to be famous doing this one day. There’re so many people who influenced me the list can go on, I thank everyone of them for being a piece of meaning in my musical journey. Lastly, I’d thank my mom because even when we had little, we still had music.
