We had the good fortune of connecting with Siri Heard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Siri, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own lip line was pretty simple, I’ve had a couple of pretty bad allergic reactions to some big mainstream lip care brands in the past. I have very sensitive skin, and after having numerous allergic reactions I decided to see my dermatologist. It was explained that some of the products they use in the gloss triggered the reaction and she suggested I should use natural, organic and perfume free products. So I decide to start my own all natural ,organic and vegan lip line which is now known as “Ri’sLip Collection”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ri’s Lip Collection, started in 2017 as a goal written on a sticky note. It came to past in 2020, I was finally able to put majority of my focus and time into my in craft and start up my own lip gloss business. It wasn’t easy, it takes lot to start and run a successful, creditable business. There’s a lot to research that needs to done before you can just start mixing up ingredients and colors. I’ve faced a lot of challenges with getting the proper items needed and supplies but I was able to overcome them. One lesson I’ve learned was not to get frustrated because things aren’t always going to workout the first try but to never give up. I would want the world to know I put so much passion and love into my products. Every lip gloss, lipstick and Chapstick is made with vegan, all natural organic products and it is  moisturizing ,hydrating and affordable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our first stop would be Ri’s Lip Collection, after visiting the hottest Lipstick company on the market, I would take her to the river walk to ride the bicycles down the river front. Its located downtown Detroit ride the trolley and restaurant and bar hop there’s plenty  to eat and drink. The next day we would hit Greek town, play a couple of slots and have dinner at a soul food restaurant. We’ll definitely hit Floods bar and Grill  after visiting Hitsville USA. I’ll make sure we hit all of the African American Museum because we love us some history. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ri’s Lip Collection would still be goal on a sticky note, sticking on my bathroom mirror if it wasn’t for my Sister, Ronnie Williams. She reminded me everyday to continue to strive toward my goals, even when I was frustrated and wanted to give up. Ronnie was right there pushing me until I completed my goal of starting ‘Ri’s Lip Collection. I also have to give a huge shoutout my best friend Eboni Ford whom I brought samples to try on daily, she’s also the lips on majority of the pics on my website. I can’t forget my son Emond Heard he never hesitated to help do anything I needed done pertaining to my business. I have to give a shout out to all of my family friends and co workers for always supporting my brand. I guess you can say I have bomb support system.
