We had the good fortune of connecting with Sir Nicholas Lucius and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sir Nicholas, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Inspiration is one of those things that I’m always so honored to be attached to – It always finds me – I feel like right now a lot of my inspiration comes from my childhood nostalgia… From my love of Fantasy, decadence and whimsy. I was a weird kid who grew up reading the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales, and watching films like Legend with Tim Curry and Bram Stokers Dracula, So I was obsessed (Still am) with the very avant-garde and theatrical elements… Those moments thrilled me because I had never seen or heard of anything so visually compelling before. I also love a good taste of darkness…I feel like a lot of those memories have found their way into my cultural DNA and my overall sense of wonder and taste… I also love the essence and detailing of Haute Couture. I LIVE for color, texture, pattern and how they can all come together and create a one of a kind visual experience…

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

What sets my work apart? Well, I believe it’s the marriage of passion and purpose that infuses every brushstroke, every rhinestone, and every composition. My art is mixed media at it’s most decadent – a reflection of my innermost self, a roaring kaleidoscope of emotions, experiences, and dreams woven together to create something insanely unique.

What am I most proud of? It’s not just the finished art pieces, the art exhibitions, showing at Art Basel, or even my growing list of clients and collectors but the journey of creation itself. At this point in my experience, I feel as though Life itself is an Artwork. It’s a labor of love, a dance between chaos and order, where I lose myself in the process and emerge with something beautiful. I am deeply proud of the connections my art forms with others, the way it speaks to souls and ignites sparks of inspiration.

As for how I got to where I am today professionally, let me tell you, it hasn’t been easy. There were moments of doubt, of fear, of uncertainty. But through it all, I held onto my passion with unwavering determination. I learned to embrace failure as part of the journey, to see challenges as opportunities for growth. And with each obstacle overcome, I emerged stronger, more resilient, more determined than ever to pursue my dreams.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way? Oh, they’re too many to count! But perhaps the most important one is this: authenticity is key. My art is an extension of myself, and it’s when I stay true to who I am that the magic truly happens. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, to listen to the whispers of my inner creative, and to never compromise my vision for the sake of conformity.

What do I want the world to know about me and my brand? Simply put, I want to spread love, light, and inspiration through my art – and to prove that once you give yourself the permission to follow through with your passion and purpose, absolutely anything is possible. I want to remind people of the beauty that surrounds them, the magic that lies within them, and the endless possibilities that await when they dare to dream. My story is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose, and I hope it serves as a beacon of hope for anyone chasing their own dreams.

So, to all who have supported me on this journey, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. And to those who are just discovering my art, welcome!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh, absolutely! Ashley Longshore is a total powerhouse and a huge inspiration for myself especially, and anyone in the creative world. She’s like the feminist Andy Warhol of our time, blending pop culture and bold statements into her vibrant art pieces. What’s really cool about Ashley is how she’s shaken up the traditional art scene. She didn’t wait around for galleries to pick up her work; she took to social media and built her empire there, showing that you can totally control your own artistic destiny.

She’s also got this incredible entrepreneurial spirit. From collaborating with major brands and icons to publishing books that showcase her unique voice, Ashley is all about pushing boundaries and doing things her way. Plus, she’s not just about making art—she’s about making a difference. Her scholarships for creative students are just one way she gives back, ensuring the next generation can chase their dreams too.

Honestly, having Ashley as an inspiration is a reminder that the art world is what you make of it. You can be as bold and unapologetic as you want, just like she is. It’s all about believing in your vision and having the hustle to make it happen. She’s not just creating art; she’s creating a movement, and that’s something that definitely deserves a shout-out!
