Meet Simone Kelly | Intuitive Life Coach, Reiki Master and Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Simone Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Simone, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I feel that consistently networking has been one of the best habits I’ve had to build connections. I used to run a barter exchange called The Give ’N Take Network for 18 years in over 5 cities. That network I built was a huge part of my growth and helped me gain clients and readers of my novels.
When we bartered, we looked for win/win situations in our business relationships, so it’s a natural skill that I’ve developed over the years. I am always connecting others as well, online and off. When you become the resource for many, it makes things much easier when you need referrals as well.
I also always ask for feedback after a service mainly in video testimonial form. Sharing a past client’s experience with me helps others get an understanding of how it is to work with me and what results they will get.
One of my most important habits is to be constantly learning. Whether it’s taking an online class, reading, listening to audio books, or podcasts, I love to feed my brain with information that will elevate me personally and professionally. I enjoy learning how to improve my craft and sharing resources, so those in my network can do the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I write supernatural thrillers and just completed my sixth book entitled “Journey’s Revenge”. It’s the sequel to my most recent Amazon Best Seller, “#1544”. My novels, although fiction, are full of suspense, sometimes sensual scenes, and a nice dose of reality. I especially love to dive into metaphysical topics such as intuition, since one may deem it to be fantasy or mystical. When I’m not writing, I am an intuitive life coach and Reiki Master, so that’s why it’s so easy to bring these topics to life in my stories. The fact is, we all have intuition and I like to demystify the concept of us having this innate gift through storytelling. I love to remind my readers to own their power.
I have been writing stories from as young as eight years old. I used to draw well and would create coloring books with short stories in them. The little entrepreneur in me would also sell them in class for a dime. As I got older, I would come up with ideas of stories, but not finish them. In my mid-twenties is when I finally decided to take a workshop on writing and that’s what propelled my career.
The biggest lesson I learned as a writer was that I had to find my tribe and teachers. Your friends and family are not enough. I had to connect with other writers, so that I could gain specific feedback and improve. I also had to delegate and build my team, since it’s extremely difficult trying to do it alone. I eventually self-published three books before getting my book deals with HarperCollins/William Morrow and Penguin Randomhouse/Urbanbooks.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Ponce City Market, Atlanta Station, and go walking the BeltLine. We might hang out in Little 5 Points and visit some of the shops. They also all insist I take them to Slutty Vegan.
It’s not the city of Atlanta, but I love biking on the Comet Trail. I’d let them come up for air and the following day we’d go hiking up Stone Mountain. On their last day we would go to Sweet Water State Park in Lithia Springs and have a picnic by the water. Let’s just say, I enjoy moving my body. Ha!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely love to shout out artist and educator Cleaster Cotton! We met over 26 years ago on the train in New York City. We ended up talking up a storm and realizing we both worked in the BMG building in Time Square – only two floors apart. Then as the conductor announced our stop to Mount Vernon, we both got up and laughed. We began walking and realized we lived ACROSS the street from one another. Synchronicity!
That was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. She introduced me to spoken word poetry and that got me out of my nervousness of speaking in front of crowds. She took me to my very first yoga class, and she got me into learning meditation and healthier eating. I began reading books on intuition and personal growth and that was the beginning of me really diving into my spiritual awakening.
