We had the good fortune of connecting with Simiao Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simiao, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Create small sketches every day. I find that this daily ritual not only keeps my creative skills sharp but also allows me to explore new ideas continuously.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think my art is a reflection of my passion for storytelling. My works have a unique perspective and I like to use rich colors. What excites me the most is the opportunity to use my art as a platform for change. Whether I’m shedding light on important social issues, or simply show everyday life through my creations. I’ve learned to embrace failure as a learning opportunity and try to use my work on different platforms.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Visit museums like the MoMA or the Met, browsing galleries in Chelsea or the Lower East Side. Visit the top of the Empire State Building and have a hot pot for dinner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout to my family, who always supports me.
