We had the good fortune of connecting with Simbi Animashaun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Simbi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I taught middle school English Language Arts (ELA) for over 10 years. I would have never thought years later I would be an entrepreneur in the health and wellness business. However, I resigned from my teaching position in February 2021 and immediately established both of my small businesses.
That summer, I started juicing in order to live a healthier lifestyle and to strengthen my weak left hand, which occurred as a result of a brain hemorrhage I experienced in November 2014. After getting 5-star reviews for my freshly-pressed juices, I established my first small business, Simmaculate Health & Wellness, LLC, and started selling my freshly-pressed juices. I currently have 7 different flavors. I also added homemade personal care products to my online store, such as whipped body butter, body scrubs, bath bombs, bath salts, and a variety of yoni products. Visit my website to learn more about my services and products at www.simbianimashaun.com/
My next small business is Simmaculately Snatched, LLC. For my 38th birthday, I gifted myself with a body sculpting training course. After becoming a Licensed Body Sculptor, I started offering body sculpting services, such as lipo cavitation, wood therapy, laser lipolysis, and butt lift therapy. I believe that when you look good, you feel good. Since its establishment, I have helped many clients (both women and men) lose stubborn body fat and jumpstart their weight loss journey. Both of my businesses are designed to help women and men take pride in their health and well-being.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beginning with the publication of my book, The Power of Healing: A Memoir of Loss & Victory, I have been dropping gems to help other women heal who are suffering in silence. Although my memoir highlights my specific struggles (i.e., pregnancy loss, stroke, failed relationship, etc.), my message is that no matter what situation you’re experiencing, when you change your mindset, God will begin to heal. Each day we open our eyes, we all have a second chance at life!
What sets me apart from others is my transparency and my lack of regard for how others will judge me. Years ago, I cared about what others thought about me, which put me in a really dark place – emotionally and mentally. Today, other people’s thoughts and opinions about me don’t matter. I’ve learned to live my life and be happy in the process.
Furthermore, it wasn’t always easy, but after experiencing a near-death experience in November 2014, I don’t take my time for granted anymore. Each day is a new day to spread God’s good work. I’m a living testimony!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting ATL and I wanted to show them the best time, I would take them to the following places: Slutty Vegan, Georgia Winery for Paint & Sip, Trap Museum, and the High Museum of Art.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve had family and friends who have been extremely supportive of my recent success as an entrepreneur. For this feature, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. She was my first customer! She literally was buying 6-12 bottles of juices every week. We haven’t always had a close relationship, but our relationship grew closer this summer.
She helped me promote my first published book, The Power of Healing: A Memoir of Loss & Victory, and was at my first book signing ensuring that decorations, food, music, etc. were intact. She doesn’t always get the credit and recognition she deserves as my mother, but I’m extremely proud of her growth. I’m glad that God has strengthened our relationship. I love you, Mom!
