We had the good fortune of connecting with Silvia Saey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Silvia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I grew up with a passion for authentic beauty. After studying Fashion Management in Paris, I started working with a young fashion designer in Antwerp, Belgium. I loved to be submerged in such a creative world, but moved away from my home country, Belgium for my husband’s career and raised 3 kids. I started to design my own accessories, inspired by my personal life and cultural travels. I felt there was a need for for sustainable fashion, handcrafted with vintage materials.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
All the items we create are very unique. We only work with authentic materials sourced in the USA and everything is designed and handcrafted locally, in Georgia. The combination of exclusive materials, our eye for detail and our unique way of styling make every piece a work of art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In a perfect world, if my best friend from oversees would be able to visit me this year I would show her the beauty of nature, the fun of the city and the magic of the Golf of Mexico. We would start with a trip to Howell Mill where I would introduce her to the best coffee in the world @ brash , we would wander around and would probably get inspired at Serena & Lily & Anthropology, We would peek in Free People for a cute dress and a pair of vintage Levi’s and since she loves to workout I would show her the simplicity of Lululemon workout wear. We would go to Upbeet for lunch and would order a bowl of the most delicious greens & protein. On another day I would take her to Pine Mountain for an early morning hike, and would reward her with a healthy lunch at Swheat Market in Cartersville. We both love coffee so we would walk to Noble & Main for coffee. We would also stay home and meditate, do yoga, walk in the neighborhood and discover the American lifestyle. I would take her to a footballgame, my kids’ tennismatches, a tumble class and who knows we might play a round of golf. After a few days of enjoying the Atlanta area I would hop in a car with her and woul d take her to 30A where we would enjoy long walks on the white beaches, we would get up for the sunrise, drink amazing Amavida coffees, go for bike rides from Seaside to Rosemary beach and would watch the sunset from the rooftop of Bud & Allys.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Great things in business are never done by one person. ‘Steve Jobs’ and this is definitely the case for Good Tidings. Our growth of 69% last year has been a combination of revolutionary ideas by our consultant Charlotte Volcke, the creativity of our photographer Shannan Thompson, the flexibility of my husband when I worked long hours and most of all the continuous support of our customers. I find that when we Go with the flow, when we Say yes to what feels good and keep our heart and mind open, the right people and circumstances will appear in our life and business.
