We had the good fortune of connecting with Silkee Smoove and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Silkee, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well I love music, writing, and just the rhythms that help us be happy. My drive for music has been influenced by a lot of greats like Nas, Eminem and Tupac. Also my music has been fueled by events rom my childhood and family.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t really listen to today’s music. My car is either silenced, gospel or an instrumental of some sort. Music to me has to not just be heard but felt. I feel I’m in a different category than most artists. From my name, clothing style, wordplay and how I even got here. I went from being a suicidal survivor, trapped in a world of depression, to a married man with 2 beautiful daughters. I’m here to let you know that what happens to you today does not impact your tomorrow. You have all the power to change.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I probably would start with drinks at the BTOP Spot, do a little bowling a Bama Lanes, drive straight to Range 231 for golfing and local entertainment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ll like to dedicate my Shoutout Interview to my younger brother Will Taylor aka 231 Willafool, to my wife and kids but most importantly to myself for still believing in me.
