Meet Sileta Bell | Writer & Serial Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sileta Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sileta, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” This quote by Margaret Mead has guided me through the early phases of working as an entrepreneur. I was a one-woman-show and later a small team, but we were doing BIG things in the community around us. What started off as a copy writing services, later evolved into a specialized business plan writing firm, and now a consulting group for startups. Our commitment to helping the entrepreneurs around us realize their dreams brought us satisfaction. Still a small team, we are encapsulating Margaret Mead’s quote by using our thoughtfulness and commitment to serve upcoming entrepreneurs on their individual journeys to building their own legacies.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My first business turns ten in a few months. What sets Bell Consultants, Inc., apart from similar small business support firms is our willingness to adapt, learn from our mistakes, and grow stronger. Always responding to the demands of our clients, I am excited about a number of soon-to-be released projects, one of them, a podcast called Bell Unusual, which features unusual topics across business, health, and life in general.
We are also excited about the roll-out of a Business Plan Template project we have been working on for the past year, where business plan writers and every day individuals can access ready-to-go plans that can be tailored to meet their vision – all accessible from our website.
Being a business owner has not been easy, but for me, there has been no other alternative. My “Why” is what has helped me to overcome the various challenges I have faced over the years. I show up every day because what I do is life changing. Not just for me, but for the clients we serve. Our tagline at Bell Consultants is “Think Legacy. Choose Bell”. As I create a legacy that my children can model, my team and I are facilitating that same movement in the lives of the clients and concepts we continue to fall in love with.
The biggest lesson I have learned on this journey is that it is okay to go back to the drawing board and re-strategize. I have also realized that failure is only final when we give up.
The one thing I would want the world to know about Bell Consultants, Inc., is that we are not only committed to working with the dreamers of Atlanta and the nation on a whole; we ourselves are dreamers, thinkers, doers. We are that small group of thoughtful committed people who are changing the world around us. Each and every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend and I are artists at heart. We both paint, write, and she designs beautiful ball gowns from her chic boutique in The Big Apple. With that, a trip to the High Museum of Art or the Hammonds House Museum at Atlanta’s historic West End community would serve as its own dose of inspiration. Of course, no day starts without coffee, or for me, tea, at just about any café in McDonough’s downtown square. Many underestimate how charming the south side of Atlanta is. Celeste and I both appreciate fresh breeze, the chipper of nature, and some good ole catch-up time.
To spice things up a bit though, we would catch Atlanta’s favorite Jamaican restaurant on wheels, a food truck called, A Taste of the Islands. Mr. Rudy’s jerk hands are a must try for anyone visiting A-Town. Further down in the week, after checking bike rides or walks on the famous beltline off the itinerary, we would catch a live performance from The Metro Atlanta Community Band. Seriously, Jazz is life!
Takeout from Slutty Vegan would make for a great at-home dinner any day of the week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I started my small business, things moved faster for me than anticipated. I landed my first large-scale project in a matter of weeks, and to say I was nervous would be an understatement. I was good at what I did – but everything in me screamed, “This is too good to be true!” I met a friend that evening for dinner and shared some of my thoughts with him. Immediately, he recognized what my problem was – a lack of confidence. He challenged me to dominate and become the authority in my field of work. The next day I purchased every book I could find about writing business plans, creating marketing strategies, interpreting financial projections, banking for small businesses, and much more. With each turn of those pages, my insecurities faded, and I was ready for my next big project. My genius friend and mentor, Baldwin Sinclair, deserves credit for not allowing me to be mediocre. Thanks Baldwin!
