We had the good fortune of connecting with Sika Noxolo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sika, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk are extremely vital in life and career paths, reason being, the exposure of strengths and weaknesses. I use taking risks as an advantage to gather information about my progress or lack of progress. They have certainly served a purposeful role in my life and career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I began as a music artist (on stage) with an all girl band that was created by myself and sisters. It was an amazing experience but taught me I would rather behind the scenes in the music scene versus on the stage. The challenges we faced were typical and expected, keeping the group in one central location but life had other plans for all us after winning BET 106&Park Wild Out Wednesday competition in November 2011. After five years of success, I hopped into the role of music management and artist development. I learned that I was actually handling the same roles while being the artist. It allowed me to focus on bringing the best out of artist and push them to the next level, I want the world to know that my brand is one that was created to elevate artist in the manner which they deserve.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in the city is anywhere filled with nature from Piedmont Park to Botanical Gardens or even cruising The Beltline, something of that nature would be the first stop for my best friend visiting. I’m a huge fan of ambiance so visiting and support Black Owned Businesses will be spots we have to visit like The Village Market ATL or Slutty Vegan. On a week long trip we would map the days out in themes, visiting music studios, nature walks and picnics, some bar hopping and chilling at home for home cooked meals or even checking out some live music shows and performances.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Black With No Chaser is a black media company that amplifies black voices and stories. I am dedicating my shoutout to them for cultivating my growth as an entrepreneur in music, entertainment and media. They deserve the credit for uplifting what I had already developed years before joining the team.
