We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sierra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to build a safe space where individuals can come to relax, rejuvenate, and regroup. A place where all of the treatments or service being receive are holistic and being provided by trained professionals. Also, I want to bring awareness to the community and educate everyone about holistic healthcare practices, letting everyone know that there are other ways to heal to the mind, body and soul naturally.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am what some people would call an intuitive massage therapist, and my massage are intuitive. I listen and let your body tell me what to do and what you may need. I always give out alot of information on how to care for yourself after you receive your services and how you can have longer relief or results.
I am most excited about getting meet new people and learning about their life or who they are and just helping them in their healing in any way I can. I am excited to see how many people I can reach and help make a difference in their life. Even if it is just something small, that is worth celebrating.
In order to get where I am today, I had to make a lot of sacrifices and a lot of changes in my life. I studied hard, I took a lot of continuing education classes. I’m always searching for knowledge or perfecting my craft so I can be better equipped to help others or teach others how to help themselves. It was not easy being a single mom, sometimes with limited resources but I had a strong support system from family and friends. If was not for them taking time out of their day to pick up my daughter from school or looking after her for a day while I take a class. They were a big help.
I learned a lot of hard lessons along the way. The first one is to always do your research. Research, research, research. Learn everything there is to know about your profession and category or industry it is in. Learn about your state laws, rule and regulations, policies and read every document you find. Second is to know your audience, learn about who you are providing services to and last but not, make sure you your finances are in order and you have a plan.
I want everyone to know that at ELA House of Wellness, we genuinely care about people and their well-being and we want to provide you with the best care, treatment and experience. We want you to not only be well but feel well, healthy, rested and rejuvenated. We want to be apart of helping you thrive in your everyday life. We truly just to make sure everyone is healthy mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestfriend were to come visit me. I would show her the city through my eyes. So, the first place I would take her to would be the Aquarium, then I would take her to the botanical gardens. We would go to Louis’ House of Bourbon, Coolray Field to see a baseball game, do a little shopping at Mall of Georgia and Tanger outlets and we would go to a concert if there were any happening the weekend she came. On her last day here, we would go and sit by the river and relax for the rest of the day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my mother (Odessa), my aunt (Darlene), my sisters (Anika, Sherron, LaSondra), a few of my closest friends and my mentors for always believing in me. For helping me realize my own talent and potential when I could not see it for myself. For always having words of wisdom when I wanted to give up and could not see a way out. Thank you!!
