We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra (cece) Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sierra (Cece), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process on starting my own business was to provide a salon for upcoming hairstylist that educates beyond completing cosmetology school, a welcoming environment that feels like a family versus competition and growth that leads to long term employment or ownership of their own business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My salon Pressed Studio Salon located at 690 Jefferson Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11221 is a staple in the Bedford Stuyvesant area in Brooklyn because we provide an elegant service where woman can pamper themselves. We run by appointment only so there isn’t any long wait times, we offer complimentary snacks and wine during visits and our stylist consistently take classes to provide the best services possible. Along the way I’ve learned that if you get negative feedback, make changes as you see necessary to make the experience better for the business as well as clients. What I want the world to know about my brand is that we care about the integrity of your hair throughout protective styles and we are more than just a salon, we are family.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting New York we would definitely visit Sweet Chicks which has the best chicken and waffles for brunch. For a good drink, upscale Asian cuisine and elegant decor, I would take her to Seiless in Manhattan, NY. If we wanted to har a night on the town Tahj is the place to be.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my three children Amiyah, Tyler and Mia. I’ve always wanted better for myself but once I became a mother I wanted more for my children, so it made me dedicate my self more in my career field to provide more for them.
