We had the good fortune of connecting with Sia Spence and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sia, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was leaving my home country, Bermuda, with my two young children to move to the United States to attend University, not knowing how I was going to do it. Then on the flip side after becoming adjusted to my new life, I had to then turn around, 6 years later due to immigration policies and decide, reluctantly, to leave the United States and go back home where the film industry is not booming, but I had to decide to trust the process.

What should our readers know about your business?
Filmale Consultants LLC is a business that provides a space of clarity for creatives within the film industry. We seek to educate, consult and mentor filmmakers and screenwriters so that they can write and produce the movies and TV shows they want. What sets us apart from others is that we specialize in clarity. Most screenwriters are not clear on their ideas and some filmmakers are not clear on the process of making a film. As we are a new business, I am excited that we have signed a contract for script consultancy with an award-winning producer in the film industry. This has truly been a blessing and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. The journey to starting this business has not been easy due to a lack of confidence, knowledge and focus, but I am where I am today as a new business owner, with amazing clients, because I never gave up and I sought out advise and always remained humble and open to learning. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that you must believe in yourself FIRST! If you do not believe in yourself, no-one else will. You must always be organized, do your research, network, and do not be afraid to to take risk or use your resources. I want the world to know that my business, my life, and my brand is MY story. There will be many seasons and episodes for you to watch. You, the world, are my audience and I will show you how you can dream, believe, find clarity and live the life you want.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend visited Georgia first stop Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. My goodness, this restaurant is my absolute favorite and it is a must when you visit me. Bermudians love to shop, so I would have to take them to the Georgia Mall or Lennox Mall, Target as well as a few of my favorite boutiques. My best friend loves to thrift shop so I will take her to the thrift stores first. Now that there is COVID-19 I do not go to the club anymore, but I used to always make sure that we had a Thursday night out at Whiskey Mistress or BQE Restaurant and Lounge. On the weekend we have to go to my favorite place Sivas Hookah Lounge where we can chill, have a hookah, eat and drink. The vibe there is always nice. Some of the most exciting and fun places to go are the gun range, the Georgia Aquarium, Painted Pin, a walk or run up Stone Mountain and the hookah lounges. As I am in the film industry, before COVID, I always had an event to attend whether it be a party, networking event or a movie premiere. I actually miss all of that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to Shoutout Natalie Fikes, Speaker, Best Selling Author, Clarity Consultant, Mother and Friend ad CEO of The Greater Purpose Society. She helped me when I was in a very dark place in my life and gave me that tough love until I actually “got it” and came to the clear understanding of who I am as a woman, mother and business owner. Now I can actually say with clarity who I am and what I do. I am so thankful for her. Natalie is my Earth Angel. Another person who deserves credit and recognition in my story is King Jay Barnett, Author, International Speaker, Marriage and Family Therapist and friend. King Jay indirectly helped me get past the heartache and pain that I was causing myself as woman. Even though we are friends, his book “Letters to A Young Queen” was purchased for my teenage daughter, but instead it changed my life. I began to love, respect and be more confident in myself, and therefore, life became more clear to me and I began to focus on the more important things in life and now understand my value and worth. Lastly, I would like to thank Tirrell D. Whittley – Film & Television Producer and CEO/Founder at Liquid Soul. He has provided me the opportunity of a lifetime with providing me a place in the film industry. When Mr. Whittley met me two years ago, he genuinely wanted to assist me with my dreams and aspirations; therfore, has never given up on me, even if an obstacle would arise. Once I told him what I wanted, he has never stopped helping me get it.
