We had the good fortune of connecting with Shonivia Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shonivia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe if you never take a risk there is no way to truly know your potential or ability to go beyond average. Risk takers are brave; They’re bold, and there’s not always a lot of them. I truly believe you should surround yourself with people who are not afraid to jump! Take leaps and bounds that are unheard of, that’s what truly sets you apart. I’ve taken many risk! Some days I feel like too many lol but no such thing. The risk I’ve taken has landed me with career skills no one can ever take from me. I’ve learn the innate abilities I have as a leader and my flaws., but I’ve grown in all the risk I’ve taken.

If you ask me would I do them again, I would probably say yes. My risk and my mistakes have molded me into the person I am and I don’t apologize for it. So take risk, be smart, gain wisdom and be the absolute best version of you.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Z’Nor Avenue is set apart from other boutiques or businesses because we truly care about our customers. We care about what they feel. How they feel. And the goal is to make them feel beautiful both inside and out. We inspire through every item selected. The pieces send a message to the viewer that you are fierce! You are confident! Your living and you are enjoying every moment of being sophisticated and LOUD in your beauty no matter how others May view you.

I’ve learned a long time ago you can’t focus on how people view you if you know you’re doing the right thing. “Everyone has an opinion, you just can’t make theirs count” So I’ve overcome challenges by facing them head on. I accept my mistakes along with my flaws, I forgive myself as I know God has forgiven me and I move on. There is no need to waddle in your mistakes or sadness. We have all had them.

Through every mistake I’ve become a better version of me and you have to do the same. Don’t continue to make the same mistake. As a matter of fact the only mistake I feel as though I made and I wish I could take back is not starting my business sooner. I would encourage anyone to start now, make your mistakes, learn, get over the hurdles and push!!

You have the keys to your own destiny, God created it in you, now you just have to deliver.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many places to visit in Atlanta, but I definitely want to have a relaxing but good time as well, so we will do the following:

1. Spa “too many to name”
2. Capital Grille
3. Seafood spots
4. Painted Pin (love to bowl)
5. Downtown Atlanta
6. Rooftop experience with music and dance.
7. Church on Sunday of course
8. Brunch at T’s Brunch

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my daughter Zora! She’s truly been my motivation as an entrepreneur! I’ve always been driven, but she’s pushes me as her mom. I started this business after giving birth to her.

They have always said being a mom makes you different in some ways. That is so true. This little girl not only pushes me but she teaches me patience and a love that is beyond words.

She makes me want to be a better version of me. A better mom. A better friend. A better business woman and so much more.

So this is to HER! One day she will read this and know that she had so much influence to her mom, so she should continue to IMPACT and INFLUENCE the world to be the best version of her.
