We had the good fortune of connecting with Shondai & Latoria Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shondai & Latoria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The answer is right in the name HEIZWERTHY. It is derived from the term HE IS WORTHY. Meaning, GOD is worthy! God, Jesus Christ, who we put our faith in, is THE most important factor behind our success and is our brand. We continue to be guided by His truth daily.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heizwerthy has positioned itself as a true contender among customers and peers as a nationally permitted custom broker and NVOCC. We provide customs clearance, import and export shipping, and delivery solutions. Heizwerthy is going on 5 years old and is growing steadily. We are most proud that in 2016, we prayed for the ability to be able to ship goods such as food, clothing, and medical supplies to people in need around the world. In 2017, we executed on that goal by sending goods to Kenya. Since then, we have shipped goods to the Bahamas, South Africa, and again to Kenya. We are looking to continuing the mission this year. What sets us apart from others is our faith. We use this platform to serve in His Kingdom. Our purpose is to touch all nations by offering international trade solutions that streamline supply chains and empower individuals and companies to connect globally. It has not been easy. There have been many days we wanted to quit. Managing the compliance pieces are often a daunting task. We believe this business is God ordained. To help with the stress of it, we pray. We seek consultation from our Pastors. We plan. We always revert back to His promises for encouragement. Most of all, we keep the faith because He is worthy!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
We love seafood and soul food! We’ve come to know that the best places to dine in the Atlanta area are not the upscale eateries with valet parking, but the small, quaint, “mom & pop” restaurants with little parking and no seating! You’ll most likely find us there. And we’re really good at encouraging our visitors to come along with us…just not in their fancy clothes! You are sure to meet an interesting mix of people on any day! And we love them!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a difficult one.  We’ve had SO many that were influential in shaping us over the years.  Some have planted in us.  Some have watered us.  I would like to shoutout my former colleagues in Savannah, Georgia (Corinne McCumber, Dorothy Cooper, Kaneeka Thompson, to name a few), my very first spiritual mentor, Evelyn Chavers in Statesboro, Georgia, our logistics partners worldwide, my industry mentors (Donna Mullins, Jamaris Sarden),  our clients (large and small) and a host of family and friends (including my mom, Paulette Chavers, Raquel  & Garfield Joyce, and Angela Jackson). But at this current level of success, our Pastors, Dr. Thomas & Dr. Teresa Goggins of Thy Kingdom Has Come International Ministries deserve special recognition.  Their unwavering efforts, steadfast support, astute mentorship, and unconditional love has sustained us in the most difficult times. Our paths crossed at the most fragile time in our personal lives.   And quite frankly, their encouragement kept us going when we wanted to call it quits.  There just aren’t words suitable enough to recognize people who make it habitual to see the best potential in people and have the wherewithal to cultivate them.  For their contributions in our business and in our personal development, we are most grateful to God.
